Kid Delicious Film

Whatever

I can think of many players who'd be better for a movie than Danny. I cannot stand the way the guy plays. I think he gets away with too much, and a shot clock should be started when he plays. Since Danny is Jewish he does have a better shot than anyone else to get a movie deal, but I wouldn't consider him a player I'd watch a movie about. There are tons of greats out there they should make movies about, and this dude isn't one of them. There are much better players out there right now with not as much hype, so lets get one of them a book deal or a movie deal. I'd probably start with a Scott Frost book. That dude is the shiznit.

You think because he's Jewish he has a better shot at getting a movie deal. You are SO wrong! You haven't a clue what you're talking about.

Its not all about road stories and funny tales. Scott Frost would ahve many stories "to tell" but is there any story "to him".

Think about it like war movies. The war is always there but its the
SOLDIERS stories that make the movies. Saving Private Ryan is a perfect example. Great flick that has a good story behind the situation. Many other guys could have had better stories about the war but Private Ryan's
story makes a good movie.

I always wondered if a pool movie(or another sport) consisting of several
short tales would work in a box office setting.
Instead of one guys tales there could be many guys tales involved. All the great stories at once. Maybe narrated just to get you up to speed before each one.
There are many great stories that don't involve big name guys that would go over really well on the big screen. Movies like PoolHall Junkies tried to incorporate too many into one guys tale.

Not only was Danny a very solid road player, he is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. He hung out with me and Corvette and some of our friends while his buddy (cant remember his name....little guy we called "rib") played one of the locals. I wish Danny success in his movie venture and his career.

His girlfriend is a real doll, as well. Both are sweethearts and I hope this works out for them.

So if there's no film coming out anytime soon, is there a book version I can read?

Kid Delicious will be doing a exhibition at Drexeline in April
free admisson funded by Bob Maidhof to further interest in the sport he loves!

Marissa-

About 6 months ago, Houghton Mifflin published the book version of L. Jon Wertheim's SI story under the title Running the Table.
It was definitely an interesting read for pool buffs.

The movie rights were purchased by Lions Gate films a little over a year ago and the project has been largely unheard of since. There has been talk of people looking at it. Truth be told, following the levels of success that PoolHall Junkies and Shooting Gallery enjoyed, I wouldn't be surprised if this film was NEVER made. Pool movies just aren't the cash cows that Hollywood is looking for these days.

I have to wait to rep you for this but thanks so much. I love a good read.

If Hollywood took pool more seriously

Its not the fact that Poolhall Junkies and Shooting Gallery were about pool that made them do bad, it was the horrible acting and bad plots.

Having spent more decades than I'd like to admit in and around the industry, I know for a fact that Jay is correct.

It is true that Jews have importantly influenced virtually every sector of the entertainment industry...since there was such an industry. But that is because they have proven for a very long time that they are good at it...no GREAT at it.

But in a world where films can be made with credit card balances (Blair Witch Project and early Spike Lee films for example) and earn $100 million in a couple of years, those who dominate the film industry will produce ANYTHING made by ANY BODY if they feel there is a market.

Sure there is a degree of favoritism as there is in any walk of life. Try getting into Harvard just because you're smart.

But be a guy by the name of Francis Ford Coppola and write a screenplay entitled Patton and see if anyone cares what religion he is.

Regards,
Jim
