Kikel or Nitti

Well if you like rounded points Kikel if you like sharp points go with Nitti personal I would go with Nitti if I was you just because you live close. That's always a plus living near a great cue maker especially when their making you a cue.

But I don't think you could go wrong with either one both make excellent cues that play phenomenal and both will be easy to resale if you ever choose.

This IS not true of all Kikel Cues. Mine has sharp ivory spear tips on all 16 ivory points. It may be more proper to say many are made with rounded points but not all. Just wanted to clarify that, not start a pissing match. I believe Dave also made some sharp pointed cues for Jamie some years ago.. Dave builds most of his cues to be played and sharp or round points don't matter in that respect.. I do like the look of sharp points and insisted they be done that way on my camatillo cue.. JMO!!!!!!!

Yes you are right he does and will and can make sharp points its just the majority of the cues he produces have rounded points.
And yes you are right it will not effect the play at all rounded or sharp but it can and will effect the resale value.
Sorry i should have explained my point a little better in my first post, didn't mean to roughly any feathers.

Hi Moet, No ruffled feathers here!! I am a Kikel fan and did not want any new members to think Dave only made cues with rounded points. As I said earlier I like the sharp points much more myself and Dave did do that for me on the last build. I also think he is very close to retiring, two years ago he took six months off and thoroughly enjoyed himself. He's one of the most trustworthy cue makers alive in my opinion. All my best to you and the OP, he can't go wrong with either of his choices.

I've owned both Nitti & Kikel cues, actually played with both, and sold them both in the last year.
Coincidence?
Enough said

I have a Nitti and compared to my Lambros its hit is more mushy.
Not as solid.
Super good cues but in my opinion it has an 'interesting' hit to it.
His craftsmanship is top notch and his cues look like show piece cues, flawless. But I take the Lambros with me every time.

IMO Dave Kikel is deserved of Hall of Fame status. His cues are no compromise and as perfectly executed as you can get. Add to that, they're consistently great playing. Chris's cues have come into thier own in the last 10 years and deserve recognition...

My suggestion is if you want old traditional style, go with Chris, if you want anything else go with David...

I have not played with or shot with a Nitti. So I will keep my comments to my experience with Dave Kikel. I had a couple of Dave's cues and loved them. I have played and shot pool with many other cuemakers cues and still love Dave's cues. Finally I decided to go all in with Dave and we collaborated on a special cue. I asked Dave to ship me all the pieces of camatillo he had so I could choose the wood I wanted. He was happy to oblige me and so we proceeded. I chose several pieces of dark violet and black straight grained camatillo for a wrapless cue. I chose to go with an all ivory point and inlay design similar to a tuxedo cue but with camatillo instead of ebony. It has been my favorite cue since. I cannot say enough about working with Dave on this cue, never was there a moment of indecision or mistrust. He did exactly what we had agreed upon and delivered on time. Happily for me I now have a cue for a lifetime. Recently I turned down $3500.00 for it, that should give the OP some idea how I feel about Dave Kikel cues.

Daves father was a Pueblo judge. His Word is Good, it's Pueblo :) family. I might sell my custom 1989 3 pt. rosewood High Definition Birdseye maple butt, two shafts/linen/ivory + inlays. Might that is.

Playability wise I take kikel also

Yes sir played with several of both. Nitti makes excellent cue and I am more prone to his designs. But I think kikel makes some best players around.

Both are fantastic makers and you could never go wrong with either, but let me tell you this. I have handled and hit with a lot of cues in the last two decades. Dave Kikel makes a top 5 hitting cue to me. He is way under the radar as far a popularity in this regard nationwide.....but imo he makes cues that are way, way up the chart on "hit", which of course is subjective. And this includes many I have owned and hit and with different joint types....5/16-14, 3/8, Radial, ACME, etc.
