I have two identical; 19.5 oz, plain looking - Meucci PP2 butt, Uni-Loc joint, Predator 314 shaft with logo sanded off, 12.75mm shaft size at tip, Moori III Q (hard) dime shaped tip.

Why?

Two identical cues: One for back-up, shafts are interchangable, can be replacing tip on one shaft while still using other shaft. I Leave one cue in my pool room at home, leave other in my bag. Then I don't need to keep packing/unpacking my cue while at home.

19.5 oz: I researched what many of the pros use and this was common. This weight is better than a heavier weight for slow precision shots, yet heavy enough to add some "oomph" to each shot. Sort of middle of the road.

Plain looking: No one will think I can hit any balls in with such a plain looking cue! No problem with theft, no one would want it...

Meucci PP2 butt: I watched their video, also I like it, and has weight bolt so I can adjust weight just right.

Uni-Loc joint: Quick release, don't spend all day screwing together my cue.

Predator 314 shaft: Low cue ball deflection, I can shoot a long shot using english and get the cue ball to go to the same spot as a dead center hit. I have "cue ball steering".

Predator logo sanded off: I play around a bunch of "bangers" at times. Don't want to get involved in long discussions about cue ball deflection, etc. Would rather play pool. Better if they don't know what I am playing with.

12.75mm shaft size at tip. This is what shaft came with, but also when using a dime shaped tip, this is about as large as you can go without the edges of the "curve" going down to the ferrule. If using a 13mm for example, the curves would go down to the ferrule, then you could only reshape it a few times before needing to replace the tip.

Moori III Q (hard) tip: I tried out *many* different tips at one point. I liked Moori the best. Hard tip because I don't need to reshape my tip as often. Don't want to be reshaping my tip or fiddling with it in the middle of a tournament!

Dime shape: I tried out quarter shape, nickel shape, and dime shape. I liked dime shape the most. Seemed I could draw better with a dime shape. Also it is said that a dime shape will have less cue ball deflection. (Note: No "scientific" tests have been done to my knowledge to prove this.) Also Predator shaft came with a dime shaped tip (which I quickly replaced with a Moori dime shaped tip).

I resurface my tip and keep it dime shaped by lightly sanding with a dime shaped sandpaper shaping tool about once a week and that is it. No "tip tapping", no "scuffing", or anything else. I chalk well before each shot, especially around sides of tip.
not a big fan of meucci cues myself, but a GREAT description. thanks, Jeff

Richard Black - has medium soft hit with good feedback and awesome response on length of the table straight in draw shots. I use a medium morri tip, irish linen wrap, piloted ivory 5/16 x14

Wes Hunter 1 - Firm hit with decent feedback due to the ebony butt and good/excellent response on length of the table straight in draw shots. I use a medium morri tip, irish linen wrap, wood/wood 3/8x10

Wes Hunter 2 - Firm hit with decent feedback and good/excellent response on length of the table straight in draw shots. I use a medium morri tip, no wrap, wood/wood radial pin

Chirs Carter - Softer hit with egood feedback and good response on length of the table straight in draw shots. I use a medium morri tip, irish linen wrap, wood/wood radial pin

Joss - Firm hit with good feedback due and decent response on length of the table straight in draw shots. I use a factory tip, irish linen wrap, stainless 5/16x14

Hope this is what you're looking for.

My cues are better than your cues so by default that means that your cues aren't the best! :D :p
that's funny! also....if you hadn't made rude comments toward me for all to see, I'd almost be tempted to believe you.

Are you talking about the rude comment I made to you in this thread or the other threads where you were whining?!

all

all threads included but let's NOT turn this into an argument. I'd like to be here in peace with everyone. let's just get on with the discussion.

Well I consider the butt of the cue the least important part. Tip is most important, then shaft.

I'm pretty sure he was just kidding. Hence the smilies . . . . .

what kind of cue do you guys (or girls) use and why? everyone knows what I use...I'm just curious. just wondering how some others play.

Beat up, ugly, Bob Frey sneaky pete w/ steel joint. Shoots better than the $2000 Scruggs I had.

here maybe...elsewhere on this site...not.

Yeah, there were a couple of threads where I addressed his whining problems with him, and some pretty hilarious pms as well...lol. All in all I think Duke is an okay guy if he'd learn to loosen up a bit. At any rate, most of my posts are in jest.

I play with a custom Meucci thats about 20 yrs olds, mine was a prototype I guess of the OL-4. I have been shooting with a Tiger X-shaft with it for about 7 months now and am very impressed with the hit and feel of the cue.

If I ever decide to change I would have to get on Mr. Blacks waiting list.

I have two cues that I regularly shoot with. First is a plain jane sneaky pete by Mike Sigel. I love the way it hits and it doesn't draw any attention to me.
Second, my P08 Pechaeur. I got this a few months ago, and can't seem to put it down. I love this thing.

for what reason do you change cues depending where you are?

I travel some for business. We have two regional offices - one in CA and one in St. Louis. I leave cues at those offices so I don't have the hassle of flying with them. They are made to the same spec, by the two makers specified - I actually got Jim & Mike to cooperate :D The travel cue is three pieces (plus two additional shafts - one for snooker) and will fit inside my checked suitcase. It's about 23" long when broken down and no metal in it at all.

That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

Adios,

Pizza Bob

thanks

thank you for addressing the real problem, and admitting what you did. I just don't understand what you guys mean by "loosening up"? I get along with anyone until someone dis-respects me. my sense of humor may also be a little stiff for people in general. my "whining" about something is probably me just saying I'm unhappy with something. I'll not post anything negative, (or try not to), and as for "loosening up", I'll try to be a little more "light hearted" about subjects also. maybe I take things too seriously...but that may be a product of my environment. thanks for your "critique" guys/girls. I'll try to take all comments in stride and listen to what you have to say. thanks guys as I'd like to get along with EVERYONE on here. :D :D

Barbara,
Please don't answer the question in this thread. I'll just get all weepy and green with envy toward you and your weapon again. :( :D
