Klompenhouwer v. Carlsen

Darn it..she was close. 2-1. For the least, it was nice to see Carlsen's face change from the cocky "she is no match to me" attitude to slight reddish embarrasment after losing the set lol.

Therese( USBA Womens/European Director Delegate), give us the play by play. I know you don't like to brag but give us the lowdown.

Carlsen has just won the first set against the mighty Caudron.
Playing against Klompenhouwer (jeez, with a last name like that -see: Schwarzenegger- she freaks me out :shocked2:) must have helped him bump up the quality of his game today.

Yes, it was quite a game! The first set I lose 15-12 and also had a change to finish with 8, but my 6th point I miss by a hair! Then 14-5 behind in the second. I feld good and he gave me a good shot. I make 8 and then I have a difficult shot with not many options. Two things run thrue my head at that moment: Attack and hope I will make it, with the change I give him a good shot and I lose or just defends. I choose to defence, but I also almost make the point! He miss, he plays to soft and I finish with 2! I was happy and feeling even stronger after and I had the change to beat him, but in the 3rd set, he was better and he deserved to win. Vs. Kang I had no change, he made many difficult shots and played very well. But ok, it was a difficult and heavy group. Maybe if I had a less difficult group, I would get into the Main tournament. I am happy that I performed well and many good players like Martin Horn and Torbjorn Blomdahl saw my game and gave me great compliments! That was great! Next time better in Turkey, Thanks everyone!

Therese
