With all the shop closures due to the economy, these mills are selling for a lot less than one might think.

Mr.H,

I agree with you whole-heartedly. In a declining economy, it's a buyer's market and there are deals to be had.
However, this is an exceptional price for this machine. There aren't many mills of this size that spin 5,600 RPMs.
Servo brand power feed, 2 spd motor and this machine is clean.
If I had the room, this would be mine yesterday.

I have personally seen a nice Alliant 3 axis CNC, A Hurco 3 axis cnc, and a Hurco 3 axis CNC WITH TOOL CHANGER sell in SE michigan for less than $1800 each in the last week.
These machines had a good control, were running and producing parts.
He is way to close to Detroit to get that money from where I stand.
The same sale had two Hardinge HLV-H lathes nicely tooled up.
They went for $900 and $1400.
There is a mid-Michigan auction comming up in a couple of weeks that lists 14 tool room lathes. I bet you will be able to take your pick for $1000ea any size you want.

I don't know weather to laugh or cry when I read the post here earlier where the guy paid over $5000 for some piece of junk shop/home built CNC or the seller who is asking more than $300 for one of those "deluxe" cue building lathes or that other "cuesmith" thing. I mean, why not just buy a real metal lathe?!!

2000 pounds just isnt that much weight. There are always riggers looking for work. Then here's what you do, hire a wrecker/tow truck driver with the older style boom truck. Pay them $50 to come over and unload it off the riggers truck for you. They will take your $50 for that 20 minutes work. Then you can move it around with some cheap black pipe and a bar.

I hired the local wrecker service's roll-back to move my Bridgeport, cost a Cecil and was worth every penny.

$50 is very good. In NY I was quoted $1250 to move a comparable size Bridgeport. That was from a factory floor (freight elevator) to a garage (ground level). No steps or anything...
