Knock knock. Who's there? Kari. Kari who?

Too cool. We have a milestone here, this is the first time I can recall a player's name being mentioned where JAM DOES NOT HAVE A PICTURE!!!!!!

Shame on you JAM for slacking off, sounds like you need a trip to Finland this summer, just to complete your collection (and NO FAIR just posting a picture of Mika). Oh wait... you've provided about a thousand other great pictures...err....you're excused....please disregard this post.

P.S. - If they are twins, then HOW CAN THEY HAVE DIFFERENT LAST NAMES. Someone please explain (?MJ?).

I don't know that case exactly, but in finnish law there are a lot of possibilities conserning about familyname. So depending on fathers familyname and on mothers familyname a child can go with either one of them depending a bit how parents use their names or after divorce still change to either one of them. Really that is very much possible, since even as an adult it's possible to change your familyname.

LOL.:D Actually, Kari's picture posing with Mika was on this forum a few years ago, but the link doesn't work anymore. If my memory serves me right, they do not look like identical twins.

I'm not sure how that works either, the last names. Must be a Finnish custom, depending on which one came out first? :p

JAM,
I must have missed the pic (though your observation does ring a faint bell).

I think it is entirely possible that you have spoiled us rotten with your extensive collection of really cool photos.

Not a bad idea, Keith and Jam here in Finland for a tournament, cool !

They can have a different last name for instance if they're parents have divorced and they'd decide to pick the maiden name of their mother or something. Don't know the details exactly, but I think something similar is the case with Mika's and Kari's different family names...

Kari Paloheimo!

At the time of this writing, the IPT qualifier is in progress at Jillian's in Akron, Ohio.:)

One of the competitors is Kari Paloheimo. The buzz at the tournament is that he is Mika Immonen's brother!

I had read one time that Mika was a twin, if memory serves me right, but this gentleman doesn't have the same last name as Mika.

Whoever he is, he just knocked Japanese Champion Takenaka Hiroshi on the B side of the charts and is in good position to win the qualifier. I'm just curious if anyone knows who is this masked man! :p

Hey JAM,

It's Aaron. I got a call last week from Mika to see if his brother could stay with me while he was over here playing in the quailfier. Kari is Mika's older twin brother and when I mean older I mean by 11 minutes. Kari came out first by 11 minutes. He said Mika will actually be changing his last name to Paloheimo but he will waite a couple of years before he does so he does't lose any chances of getting a sponsor. His brother is very nice and switched over to pool from snooker.

Hi, Aaron. I was so happy to see Ronnie Wiseman win the qualifier at Jillian's in Akron, OH.

I was surprised to learn that Kari was Mika's brother, a twin. In the Filipino article about Mika referenced earlier in this thread, it stated that Kari was, in fact, a snooker player who beat Ralf Souquet in 1995. So I kind of had a feeling that Kari could definitely play! :p

Looking forwarding to next month in Vegas. I'm going to try to keep me and mine away from the crap tables while the tournament is in progress, though it may be a tough feat. One thing for sure, we're going to all have fun playing real pool with real rules and for real MONEY! :D
