Know any instructors in the Chicago area?

Sabrina Anderson, was a BCA Instructor until she moved to Alaska....SPF=randyg

Scott: Read the post. I didn't say a pro player I said a teacher.

Teachers teach and instructors push information sounds like schematics but it's not (I do know the difference).

I don't have any opinion on any teachers/instructors on this forum because I've never taken a class with the ones mentioned here not that i wouldn't want to just haven't had the opportunity.

The only reason Jeff Carter's name was mentioned is because he was looking for someone who lives in the local Chicago area.

The lessons I took some years ago were from Sabrina Anderson and Ray Yamane (Probably misspelled) in Ca.

I don't care who he takes lessons from I'm just saying get the best lessons from the best teacher he can afford.

A follow on to Scott: I'm not saying having the title instructor suggests you can't teach its just a title.

I was a drill, weapons and tactics instructor. Entry level students are about pushing information to establish a baseline. "Advanced" students are about "don't fit them to the shoe teach them to make the shoe fit them".

For what it's worth there are three instructor's (no slander intended) posts on this forum I read as soon as I can (Randy G, pool teacher's and yours).

Just a bump to this thread, found in a search.

I am in the same situation and wanted to see if anything has changed since these comments were made.

Thanks,

I think it might be helpful to describe your favorite games, your general level of play, and what you think your main problems might be. Choosing, for example, between Scott Lee or Freddy the Beard is a complete apples and oranges kind of thing.

I recently recommended Scott Lee for two guys that play at the Illinois Billiards Club who wanted some work on their fundamentals and they were very happy with him.

Bobby Hunter came over to my house and worked with me on straight pool patterns for about 3 or 4 hours one day. He also gave a little seminar on 14.1 at Red Shoes last year.

Right now, he has found a new location for his cue shop and is working on getting all the equipment set up in it, but he can probably be available for lessons. I played him in a straight pool tournament Saturday at Red Shoes and he played the best 14.1 I've ever seen him play and I've seen him play probably 20 matches in the last few years.

his email is huntercues@yahoo.com and his telephone number is
775 450-2607.

Lets see...

I'm starting to play again after almost 10 years of just banging at a friends house and local bars. Never played in any leagues, so I would say a beginner looking to start at the bottom.

Have pool cue willing to learn...

Cool! I would recommend Scott Lee then. You'll get a good video analysis of where you are with your stroke, and a ton of drills and info on where you need to go.

BTW if you decide to go with Scott, "Mother Drills" will have nothing to do with "Milfs" :D

Pool Instruction

Hi,
You simply cannot go wrong with Jerry Briesath he is the best at what he does. The reason for that is he loves giving pool instruction, he is patient knowledgable and very friendly and has been doing it for years.

Anybody that was able to sort out my disfunctional pool stroke has got to know what he is doing! Mark Wilson and Tony Robles are Briesath instructional prodigys they are also fabulous. I wish you the best with your instruction search.
Kind Regards Geoff Gray

I have taken lessons with both Mark Wilson and Bobby Hunter. Both are truly fantastic instructors.
