I like the looks (I sent a similar one w/an ebony forearm to Rat Cues to convert). For some reason I had Brunswick in mind when I bought them.
As the title hinted at, I am trying to learn. I have several websites saved and a Blue Book subscription. And any time I see a cue ID request I follow it. Watching you people work through identifying a cue is fascinating.
My cues:
Obviously the joints are different. The knotched diamonds on the butts of both are stickers, everything else on both look like real inlays and such. The veneer(?) colors are the same. I took the wrap off the one, it was shredded. And to me, overall they seem pretty similar. A regular Sherlock Holmes I am!
The stickers seem so obvious to me, are these home-modified cues? The same maker, different eras? Just early imports, that coincidently looked similar? The only thing I know is my pics are getting better! Whoo Who!
And my posts are getting longer - sorry

Appreciate any help.

Thanks

Inexpensive imports. Not unlikely made in the same place.

I ave seen similar cues to the fancier double spliced one branded as a Brunswick. Does in have an inlaid B in the butt sleeve?

There were similar import cues sold as Brunswick. But they could have had almost any brand on them.

Thanks Chopdoc, no "B". So, even though these are kinda fancy and probably older. The quality is just too poor to overcome? I am probably stating the obvious - just making sure I am thinking right.

How about these?

A bit simpler, exotic looking woods, and more recent joints. (Compared to the cues before) Of course I think of Rich, Fry, heck I even saw a Paradise that was similar... Okay, the 3 in this post all have a wood screw holding the bumper on. (At least I haven't brought out my 4pc, hand carved, vintage walking cane!)
I am assuming the screw is a turn off, other than that, anything blatant?

Thanks again!

Geeze, where you coming up with these?

It's a new ball game with that second set.

We'll start talking at possible Abe Rich. You suggest Paradise? I dunno...gotta look more.

Definitely a different class of cues in that set. I'll look more later.

I gotta get ready for work. Are trying to make me late?

Honestly those names were thrown out mostly joking. I saw a cue similar to the one in the middle, attributed to Paradise, except it had 3 segments on the butt. I swear from the pics though, it was the same green material. This is the screw in that middle one. In person, it looks like it is painted silver? The screw in the split wrap is very similar, only a hair smaller. The other is a phillips and looks like it has a washer.
Thanks for any info

Ok, I suck at iding cues but I'll give it a shot.

These are a he'll of a lot better cues then the first group.

The first one I personally don't like that style. I've seen many before but I don't remember who makes them. It's not junk though.....Adams???

Second one looks like a Rich, I have many like it except the pin looks a little longer then normal. Paradise made ones similar but I dont think it would have that type of wrap.

Third cue I like the best (except for the joint), though knowing my taste it's an import.

How about this one?

I got this earlier today, have not hit with it yet. It doesn't seem to have a finish on it, and the wrap is so smooth it is almost "Meucci like". It came with 2 shafts, only 1 w/matching ringwork. She is dirty as heck, like I said no finish, it's "blued " up the forearm.

She looks wicked in person, like it has hit a bazillion balls. Gonna try her tomarrow. This one wants to be played with!

Anything here pointing to anything particular? I am trying to find something to interest you guys!

Thanks again, I know about 80 percent of what I own. Not selling, just trying to figure out those other ones.

Oh, you had my interest from post one.

Looks Asian. Generic type, could be almost any name.

Nice cue, wouldn't mind having one but as people know I tend to dig some lower end cues....partly because I am broke.

It's possible it is something "better" so maybe somebody else has something to say on it.

Where are you coming up with these? Ebay?

Good fun with these really. I am getting late for work so I gotta run. I'll try to check in later.

I hit some last night with this. It plays great.

Appreciate any input. I don't think there is anything special here, I thought the non piloted one might be interesting. Again, I have no clue. Fortunately, I have over-paid for only most of them LOL! I like the way they look, but you can only have so many house cues...(and I don't even have a table yet!)

Glad they have been worth looking at. And yes, all have been ebay so far.
I may over pay, but I usually don't pay a lot.

I have a feeling you and I are watching the same cues on Ebay. I watch all kinds, including some lonely unknown low end stuff. I would buy them all if I had the cash.

I thought I recognized the ones you posted.......

Every once in a while there is a true diamond in the rough.

Recently, there was a cue sold as a recent Palmer (Asian) Jump/Break for under $100 BIN. Not only was it not a J/B but it was really an earlier four point with veneers Palmer, at least thirty years old. I bout messed my pants. I hit the Buy It Now button but somebody else beat me to it.

Even for the ones that are not "diamonds" there is a lot of fun to be had. Some of them actually do play well, and some of them actually are made well too. So they are not made by George Balaspainboti.......they are still fun.

Incidentally, I really do like that last one. It's a cool old cue.

Keep 'em coming! It's definitely fun!

I'll have some "lower end" ones to post soon. Been planning on it, just didn't get around to it.

For now a re-post of older pics of some of my trailer trash cues......of course, these aren't hard to identify. LOL!

I do have a couple cues that crack the four figure mark in value. But mostly the above, a few Schmelkes, Players, Lucasi, Dufferin. Many not in the greatest of shape. I will get more unknowns up soon. And probably all of them eventually. Meanwhile, here are two knowns you might appreciate.
It seems like I have seen one of these before??? The Sierra actually hits ok, the veneers are terrible though.

Anybody know if the "1 of 1" on the joint protector refers to the J/P or the cue???

LOL!

Both of those were actually made by the same company. The Sierra can be found with a Cobra logo like mine, or with a Slyfoxx logo. Incidentally, the veneers on my Cobra are beautiful. Just got lucky on that one I guess.

They are made by the same company that made the old Cobra and Mizerak cues of the eighties. Later offshoots were Slyfoxx and Craftmaster.

I believe the original importer of those brands was Harold Miller. His son, David Miller, went on to create Axiom cues.

I believe they were made by Kao-Kao in Taiwan (may have other names).

Generally not considered anything special but can be OK shooters and a lot of people started out with such cues. Changing the crappy ferrule can go a long way toward making the better ones a more acceptable shooter, but even in these low end cues there is a lower end, and some of them are just crap.

I think the associated brands and the people who created them have a place in cue history because of their association with Mizerak. Harold Miller died in 2003. I have yet to have any contact with David Miller, but I have had contact with one of the former business partners who in fact was the one who started Slyfoxx cues. Apparently he knew Mizerak fairly well and worked with him in these matters for some years. I also spoke to a former distributor that also dealt with Mizerak.

The same company has made cues for other brands but the brands mentioned are sort of in a "family" of related brands as I see it. Sierra Custom Cues is another brand made by them that is more current.
