Kopy Kat GTF Type Case on Sale until 6/22/11 FYI

A Kopy Kat case is a copy of a Replica case? I can't figure out if that is ironic or redundant...

Smart Idea......
someday i believe many small factory in asia will duplicate GTF and JB flowers on a cheap knock off with vinyl.
With this move, John already offer us a premium GTF with leather and offer us a cheap one with vinyl.

Yeah, pics aren't working for me either. Would like to see how close they got. The GTF series is a VERY nice case in terms of extruded 1x2's! Although I'll be the first to admit, I haven't owned one yet, but I can tell the workmanship involved with the cases. (aside form rapping with JB about them).

When is someone going to launch the Kopy Kat JB Cases line? Can't wait!

You're out of the loop - there are already copies of our cases out there. Unfortunately for the buyers they tend to be pretty crappy. So instead of saving a couple hundred you are actually throwing away a couple hundred.

JB is coping himself? And to buy it from Roy? WOW you go COCO

IndyQ (GTF) is offering a vinyl version of the leather GTF.

It's ironic and fun. It's spoofing ourselves and giving the consumers great cases for a great price. It's honest. And Roy, as usual when he is a dealer for something, stocks deep and gets busy. That why he usually sells the most of anything he chooses to be a dealer of. Whitten for example couldn't keep up with his orders and neither can I.

The idea is Roy's. He wanted to offer a lower priced version and asked me to develop it. We picked the best quality vinyls available.

The GTF case is pretty hard to copy and do it right. There used to be all kinds of knockoffs of the Centennial/It's George type cases because that style is much easier to do. However most of those fell apart pretty quickly because although this style looks easy, it's really not.

I am pretty proud of these cases though. I took one to the ICCS last year and no one could tell that it was vinyl. Very high grade and very elegant.

Posted from Roy's site about these cases:

It's a shame the Seyberts site, makes no mention of them being vinyl. Infact the header at the top of the page, states GTF cases are leather, so it makes it appear the kats are, too.

Hope that gets fixed, so it doesn't come back to bite them or JB.

Nice looking cases, though, I like the price point.

Good point. There is no description at all so I hope that they are putting those up now.

FWIW the label inside each one states that they are vinyl. And also these have the logo at the top which corresponds to the information at Roy's website and also what will be at GTF's site.

We hope that this will be enough for people to properly identify them but I am certain that people will still buy/sell/trade them as leather.

Love the cases, they look great... but I dont like the Kopy Kat Logo being so prominent on the cases. Maybe its just me but I wouldnt want a case named Kopy Kat.

I second the opinion on the logo -- John, get it changed, it's horrible!

If I bought one of these cases, I'd want it to be known as a GTF case, not something with a goofy looking cat and misspelled words with loop-de-loop letters. It's George did it much better; the vinyl ones were still It's George cases but the letter "V" was added on the bottom, as I recall. [Yeah, I know, they went out of business, so maybe they didn't do everything right.]

GTF's are super cases. I imagine the vinyl versions are just as well made and functional. But KKK cutesy is a real negative to me.

Change the logo to something I'd like (or better yet, no logo on top) and I promise to buy one.

Edit: the logo I'm talking about is on the lid of the cases, and can be seen here: http://www.seyberts.com/products/2x4_Black_Kopy_Kat_GTF_Case-102195-10417.html

Can you get the 2x4 without pockets?
Logo doesnt bother me ,looks like you could put a nameplate over it

Sure, the buyer would have multiple options for covering it -- such as gluing in a piece of plastic, vinyl, or leather -- but that's not optimal.

I'm hoping that John doesn't like it either, that he just relented to a suggestion by the boss (Malott). Maybe with positive feedback like mine (I'm positive I don't like it), they'll change to something classier before production gets really rolling.

Then again, John and Roy undoubtedly know a thing or two more than I do about what is likely to sell well.
