"The Gatlingburg"

This cue is a very special cue for me. It all started with a wonderful vacation in Gatlingburg Tennessee. Lots of close friends and family were present and we had a amazing time. I wanted to find a piece of wood from there and build a cue to commemorate that vacation. After looking everywhere and finding nothing I saw a broom shop. There I found some old guys that were passionate about woods as much as me. After talking with them for hours about the kind of woods that go In making custom brooms and lamenting about not finding anything nice this guy says he might have something for me. He goes in the back and pulls a dark brown walnut hunk of wood. He told me that is being air drying for the past 50 years. The grain was beautiful and I instantly fell in love with it. I asked how much and he said 30$ and a pack of smokes. I could not believe my he pretty much gifted me this piece of wood. Wood of this caliber goes for hundreds by the way. I thanked the man up and down and left. Months later it's done. It's has been a long journey with plenty of close calls and frustrating moments but in the end every time I look at this cue it takes me back.
This is a tribute cue and it's dedicated to my family, my friends and my girl because without them this would not be possible.

This cue has some firsts.
- my first 62" long cue
- first dark tones cue
- first cue assembled from 3 individual components.

Cue specks
Ultraskin soft tip with a carbon fiber pad
Ivory 1" ferulle
12mm tip
Pro taper
30" shaft
3/8x10 with a flat minor
19 oz adjustable
Balance point at 14" from the joint.

This cue is perfect for a tall person 6 ft or taller. Since with a long arm span a cue of this length will feel more comfortable.

Also I would like to thank the AZ community and all those that have thought me a lesson.

Love the handle wood but why put a 12mm tip or ferrule unless this was ordered with those specs.

You get lower deflection automatically. In Europe it's hard to find a 13mm shaft, it goes more the way 12.5mm and semi conical taper.

62'' is pretty much. My cues have 61'' and I had some difficulties to find a case. Nice wood.
