Not flaming, but, personally I thought that the Sigel vs Jones match came across as nothing more than obvious farse, and was a giant "tell" for setting the stage for the future of the IPT.

Good point Island. IMO picking someone like Jeanette Lee would have garnered much more media attention, not to mention it would have improved the quality of the match. This isn't a knock on LJJ, I'm just saying she wasn't the best choice for promoting the IPT which is the reason this challenge match was being held in the first place.

This is missing the point - Of course the whole thing was a farce (as JimmyG so eloquently points out) but NOT because of the mis-match between Sigel and LLJ, but because it was Sigel as the de-facto male champion in the first place.

If they had had Reyes vs. Fisher they would have had something marketable as a championship of sorts and they would have had a shred of legitimacy with the whole "King of the Hill" thing. However KT clearly stated in that BD interview last year as far as he was concerned legitimacy in the Pool industry and fan base had nothing to do with building a marketable brand.

"The cold reality of the situation is that if none of the top players participate, no one outside the billiard world will notice. I'll have Joe Smith, 'The Greatest Player on Earth,' on TV winning a million bucks."

He also clearly stated "I'm not trying to be a savior to pool. That's not my motivation". And in that at least he has clearly succeeded beyond his wildest dreams.

After reading these posts, Black Widow vs Mouth, might have gotten the biggest bang for the buck, with 1/2 of the monies won going to the WPBA would of been a nice touch from JL. EXPOSURE would of been huge, the media would of been all over it.
