KT in Jepardy?

Since it appears the IPT is disintegrating, and KT's behavior less than honorable, what will be done about his debt of $500,000 to Efren (not to mention the other $2.5 mil he owes the others?

I understand Efren has some heavy hitters who back him. I wonder, if KT chooses to burn Efren, will Efren's backers take action? Does anyone think KT might meet with an unfortunate accident?

What is KT's side of the story?

What you are suggesting would not be the correct way to pursue justice. That would only soil the greatest player of our generations reputation by association if something like that went down.

I would like to see KT on Jeopardy. I don't think he would do very well.
"I'll take Reno for nothing, Alex"

"I'll make it a true daily double and bet all the checks for Chicago too Alex"

Trust must be earned like respect. It is not a FREE BEE

Both trust and respect are much easier to keep than to regain.

A lot of people in Pool were prepared to give KT trust and respect at first sight unseen, including the Pros themselves, the industry and us fans. If KT had simply paid out Reno and THEN declared he was closing down or greatly scaling back the IPT he would not be having all the problems he is having now. He has broken the first and most cardinal rule of any tournament in any sport - PAY THE PRIZE MONEY. Everything else he could have floated for a while, but not that.

Sure, he would still have been disappointing a lot of people and breaking a lot of verbal promises, but frankly no-one should be really surprised, given the total and conspicuous absence of player contracts, schedules and publicly published information on the various deals he kept talking about that were to finance all these promises.

All he had to say to keep some level of trust and respect was the truth - He'd screwed up. He'd run out of his start-up money, failed to invest sufficient start-up money, failed to correctly predict the operating costs, failed to obtain decent TV contracts, failed to sign decent sponsorship deals, failed to find a buyer for the IPT at a price that could cover it's debts, failed to win backing and support from the existing major world Billiards organizations and failed to build the IPT into a profitable organization that could be floated in an IPO before the money ran out.

He could have even said he'd gotten bored with the project, that his boy Sigel wasn't winning anything and that he was sick of giving all his money to Brits, Germans and Filipinos ;-)

But to do what is very obviously a smoke and mirrors dance in public like this is unforgivable. And clearly his choice of senior staff members leaves a hell of a lot to be desired too.

I wonder if anyone has ever seen someone in a tuxedo in handcuffs.

That could be different.

Great Post, and I think KT has a history of being shady if I recall his Resume...

Not many places hand out free bees. Even beekeepers. I got one free from a pet shop once though. It was a freebie. I wanted to buy a pet bee, but they said they didn't sell them. They had no answer when I asked them why the hell did they have one in the window then.

Just.... i saw the very thing 1 day as a groom was arrested on an outstanding warrant (for drug sales) just as he was walking into the church... I can picture in my mind what was going on inside the church. That is what i would call being left at the altar... Wonder if they ever got married. I know he got 20 years. Also would have to wonder what would have been worse.... Marriage or Jail. ......mike

you dont get to pick who rapes you in jail, sorry KT

His great great grandfather's probably rode from town to town in a stage coach selling Snake Oil.
The first time I saw him on TV years ago selling that Adkins crap, I knew
he was a Flim-Flam man.:)

so did every other event organizer and billiard association. But focusing on who knew and who said what is not helping the situation.

Someone's hand is in the wrong cookie jar. I hope they use all available services to help them through this time.

No joke. I really am that thick.

Where is Jepardy by-the-way? Like KT I wouldn't mind visiting myself. Sounds like a bit of a boom town. I got laid off recently, but the news here always seems to be telling us there are thousands of jobs in Jepardy.

Now thats EXACTLY what pool needs, an international news story about a promoter having an "unfortunate accident" possibly at the hands of some "heavy hitters" who just happen to back one of the worlds greatest players.

Pool isn't sleazy...where did you get that idea??
