If it were a car salesman in FL I would agree 100% There are good people out there, just few of us have the time to find em or are willing to make an effort. I would first find someone you trust + a dealer that has a good reputation and has a good economic climate/mechanics and then let the salesperson do the work for you. Give em time but he/she will come through.
Once you find the right person work with them 'always' and you'll be surprised if you treat them good what you may get in return.
If you go to a dealership that has incredible employee turnover that tells you allot about the managements attitude. Your gonna spend the money, spend the time.

How to Beat the Car Sale Dude

This link will tell you everything you need to know about buying a car.

Main points:

1. Go to Edmunds.com and find the invoice price of a car.

2. Go to dealerships to talk about cars.

3. Do NOT buy on the first trip to the dealership.

4. Do NOT buy on the first trip to the dealership.

5. Do NOT buy on the first trip to the dealership.

6. Negotiate UP from the invoice price, not DOWN from the sticker price.

Seriously. Go to the web site. Read everything. It will give you a whole new outlook on talking to a car salesman. The guy that put up the web site is an ex car salesman. A GOOD one. He details everything the car salesman / dealership does to get the highest price they can.

Good luck!

Jake.. See response above.

Also.. If you educate yourself the right way, their lies do not matter. That's what the web site I pointed you to will help you with. And the "Car Buyer's School" there (Free!) on the website is actually an entertaining read!

It was amazing. My wife and I bought a vehicle about 1 1/2 years ago. I found this site recently and went over some of the key points with my wife, and she agreed, the car salesman took us through the car sales flow STEP BY STEP. He said some of the "lines" WORD FOR WORD.

There is a process they follow, almost to the letter. When you know the process, and the reason they say each line, you got them by the BAWLZ!

Remember, THEY need YOU. You DON'T need THEM. Therein is where your power is.

I did receive that link a couple weeks ago and have been reading it and you are right in that the salesmen follow it step by step.

Afterall, they do go to school to learn how to negotiate the deal and they practice it on a daily basis and constantly review their tactics while Joe new car buyer just does it once every few years.

The site is very helpful.

One thing to keep in mind is that no matter how much you like the salesman, no matter how friendly he is, no matter how much you think he's trying to help you, don't ever trust him.

That's good advice when dealing with any known con man.
