I made a little cnc carriage and cross-slide for mine but haven’t used the one Todd sells. It looks decent like all his stuff and I think the main complaint is the pinion gear can strip if it’s configured wrong.

I'm not much of a machinist; are the bed ways/T-track the same as what comes on a Hightower?

Yes both are taig beds.
