Lambros shaft/ferrule change

Hi,
I would like to change ferrules on Lambros shafts. Two reasons: they are thinner on the top of the ferrule, and I do not like this chalk apsorbing material for ferrule. I think it is a melamine, correct me if I'm wrong.
I did try to contact Mr. Lambros, but he does not reply to e mails.
So, what is good alternative for melamine? I would like to keep same hit. Close as possible.
And, does anyone knows what kind of thread Mr. Lambros is using for ferrules?
Tnx in advance.

Hi, Mike usually uses Juma and I don´t think they are famous to take chalk. Can it be that the ferrules have been sanded a bit?

Anyway, Mike and Email .... Mike and phone:thumbup:.

Just give him a call and he will help you out, or just send him the shafts with a note.

He is very easy to deal with and he is always eager to hear opinions of his cues.

Regards

They are not juma. For sure. And yes, they have been sanded. Previous owner give it to someone to change tips and... Whoever did that, his work is for jail.
Since I'm in Europe, and my English is not great I prefere e mails over phone.

Ok.

I speak with Mike regularly so if you want I can help you out. Send me some pics of the shafts/ferrules and I will talk to Mike, or direct him to this thread.
Better of is to send the shafts to Mike and we take it from there.

Or if you have a better idea - I´m here to help out the way I can.

Take care

It will cost an arm and a leg to ship back to the states and then back to you. Is there not a local cue repairman where you are that can replace ferrule and tips?

Well, there are not many cuemakers in Europe that can be completely trusted. I do have my good friend Siba, from Siba custom cues, but problem is equipment. All cues have pins, ferrules etc expressed in inches. Like 3/8, 5/16. Here we use metric system. And that kind of tools is not available here. Must be ordered from U. S. My friend Siba got a lot of necessary tools. But not all of them. So, what if he unscrew the ferrule, and realize he does not have required drill and tap for installing a new? Then I'm in trouble.
Last time when I did have to change ferrule on my Richard Black cue, i bought drilled and threaded ferrule, ready for install. It was easy then. But not easy for Peter Gunn, he posted above, great player and cue enthusiast who changed this ferrule for me, without a lathe. Just patience. He did amaizing job, there was no difference between my two shafts.
I tried to do same thing again, but it didn't worked out.
Anyway, shafts are on the way to Michael Vollmer, problem taken care of. :)
Btw, why is for example joint diameter 0.840, and tip diameter is 13 mm? Not 0,5118. I never understand that. :)
