Large Delrin?

Does anyone know where I can get a large piece of Delrin at a good price? I need at least a 4" diameter or 4"x4" block that is at least 3" thick or bigger.
 
I usually look on ebay as there are all kinds of sizes that are being sold. Usually cutoffs from other projects. Different colors too. Also look under the other name, acetal. Good luck.

I have actually been watching ebay. I just missed a buy it now for a 4.5" diameter by 9" long piece. I saw it, then went back to buy it and it disappeared!!
 
John I will look this evening and let you know what I have, it seams like I bought a a piece 4 or 6 inches around several years ago.--Leonard

I just looked at your link. The 1 1/4 delrin rod they have on there for $13.00 a foot for example can be bought locally most places for around $7.50 a foot. You should check you yellow pages for plastic suppliers. You may be able to just drive over and pick some up.
Even if it is not a stock item they will usually get it for you when they have deliveries come in.
I am not saying the guys on ebay are ripping anyone off. They have to stock it and then pay ebay fees and paypal fees and have something left over as some profit. So they serve a purpose, but a cue maker or any cue professional should be buying from the same people they buy from, you don't need a middle man. There is also an advantage to buying locally in that you can see what you are getting.

Delrin is a trade name but they sell other stuff and use the name Delrin as a generic term when it is not. It may be similar but for using on cues where looks are important it may not work out. These are industrial materials that are not manufactured for their looks. In the past I gotten some real bad stuff advertised as Delrin or linen rod and so on.

With a butt cap that size, it will hardly be a sneaky!!!!

Larry....it's a very special break cue....*shhhh* don't tell anyone my secret! Hahaha. No, it's for another project actually....so not quite a butt cap!

You can buy Delrin rod at a couple diff places in Tulsa. I believe IBT on Pine either has or can oder some. i got 5ft of it through the IBT here in Muskogee.

1 1/4 natural rod is $6.85 a foot
