Larry Nevel snaps shaft at US Open (video)

I was right there too, right next to his seat - it absolutely was intentional - an impulsive move, but he DROVE that cue down into the carpet. It didn't bother me like it seems to bother others. He did not throw a tantrum. It was 3 seconds of frustration. He was not being a dik like Hennessey was to Neils, or being obnoxious like Hatch was - more than once.
THEY bothered me and I lost respect for them in the sportsmanship dep't.

Back to Larry. He was sooooo tight, sooooo uptight, his face was riddled with tension. He'd placed so much pressure upon himself IMO, he was physiologically and mentally doomed from jump street.

I'll watch Larry play before the other two.

Maybe there's more to it than this clip, but Larry doesn't appear to be out of control. He immediately bent over and started picking up the remains of the shaft. He may have swept the balls down the table because the piece of his shaft that landed on the table hit one of the balls.

You do know that you didn't see the match and many commenting here did, right?

The funny thing was, the video was on uTube less than five minutes after it happened. The guy sitting next to me was the first to access it.

cue stick

It ain't a big deal! I do this nearly every shot I miss, it might seem expensive but I am able to heat my house with broken shafts;).

you must be in the south.in the north you dont heat your house with broken cue shafts,

I thought I was quite clear when I said, "Maybe there's more to it than this clip."

I saw that...and was more commenting on the fact that you threw up a theory when the facts were known.

I'll believe you posted before reading the whole thread, we all do it.

I did read the entire thread before posting. Perhaps you are thinking of another thread. No one here suggested Nevel was out of control when this happened and the clip doesn't show it either. Nor does this particular clip show whether a piece of the shaft hit any of the balls. It was more of a question than a theory about sweeping the balls as the video isn't clear on that and there were no facts related to this presented in the other posts.

My temper can get bad and I swear out loud and people think I've lost control
which is true.Just because Larry was quiet when he snapped his shaft doesn't mean he didn't lose control, the point where he broke the shaft is where he did lose control.
