Larry Nevel Youtube Stroke video -- amazing

This is worth clicking on. It's fantastic. I'd heard people say 'he can one hand draw the length of the table while frozen on the foot rail' but just couldn't quite believe it until I saw the video. Larry does it with 2 feet to spare on the bar box.

I don't even frigging understand what my eyes are telling me with that close jump. He appears to jump the CB over a ball that the CB is frozen to, and it looks like a real jump (hits the ground backspinning etc) yet somehow the interfering ball doesn't move at all or just barely moves. It's like an 89 degree jump. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. Can someone explain that one?!

Watch closely. The cueball goes straight up, hits the shaft and bounces forward.

This is a repost, but it doesn't really matter. The stuff Larry can do with a cue stick is flat out sick. I was standing next to the camera man filming this video (watching it live) and still don't beleive what I saw.

Not sure if this has been posted but I just came across an amazing video of Larry Nevel doing some of his famous stroke shots. I especially like the shot at 2:35 that he does twice in a row. Brilliant!

I was the intoxicated camera man with the foul mouth and unsteady hands. theref was the guy standing next to me laughing like a school girl jacked up on mountain dew.

Ha Ha! who invited Woody Woodpecker? that guy in the background audio has a laugh that's something else... LOL

Anyone know what kind of shaft Larry uses?

His stroke is just insane!

Larry was using a stick that he actually made himself. It wasn't a specialty type shaft. The stick he was using was made out of purple heart and he said the cue was for sale if you're interested.

i've seen Larry do those shots with a house cue. It really doesn't matter with him.

His stroke has to be the product of a deal with the devil.

It doesn't matter what he uses. I've watched and played Larry since his teens. He does great shots with a lawn rake or a mop. I've seen it done!

He has changed equipment reps many times and I'm assuming right now he is playing with a Reeves cue that he may have had a hand in building. I thought when he went back to SC he was going to work with Jimmy.

He's really quick & strong to boot. His pool aptitude is sheer genius. I believe there are many, many factors that make Larry's stroke that "insane".

Those "fuete" shots are not as hard as they look once you know how to set up, aim, and stroke correctly. The one-handed, length of the table draw shot is another matter (at least for me).

Which shots are the "fuete" shots?

fuete shot

All those shots where the cueball is locked up on an object ball (actually a small gap between the balls) and then he draws off that ball multiple rails into other balls. See "Byrnes Complete Book of Pool Shots" pg. 147. Bob Jewett wrote a more indepth article on the shot in Billiards Digest not that long ago. (Within the past year or so) It was far more detailed concerning the actual aiming and stroke requirements than the Byrne illustration. If I get a chance I'll see if I can dig it up and get back to you.

Actually it's a fairly standard shot used in three cushion billiards. If you've seen that Semi Seyginer (sp) trick shot video, he has several variations of the use of this shot.

That is the only one that truly made me say OMG (not that I could do any of the others).
BTW, I still think Mike Massey has the most powerful stroke in pool.

That video was great. His stroke is better than Mike's in my opinion, after seeing that video (and having spent days practicing with Mike for our ESPN shows on the 3c table). The one handed draw twice in a row just split my wig. That's awesome. I loved the fouette shots, as they are some of my favorites to do. We shot them on the billiard table a bunch for 3 Cushion Grandmaster. Semih is one of the best, for sure. I also liked Larry's resistance draw where he tried to go 5 rails. I'll be trying that soon.

thanks for the repost
