It may be a bit late...but here's the idea...

Let's get some tables in the schools. I am pretty sure that the lingering recession has left most of our local amusement operators with bar tables stacked to the horizon, collecting dust.

The amusement operator could donate (recycle is always a good word too) a couple of their bar tables to the local school and get a nice deduction on some dead wood that will otherwise be sitting for years to come.

Whaddya think?

This is a good idea if they can get a good tax deduction doing it. Don't get me wrong I love bar tables myself and a BB is better than no table for the schools, but I believe all billiard school programs should have the same table as most tournaments, college programs, and what most billiads records were played on...a nine foot table. Johnny- I feel with 9 footers kids may be discouraged more easily and not catch much interest in the game if they cant put some small runs together. Plus space is always an issue. Regardless of what size though I think its a great idea and a positive contribution to the game if this would happen

OK, so this needs to be checked out by an accountant on here, so please chime in. Back when I played professionally on the Senior Tour (I was cannon fodder), every pool cue I bought, every set of balls, every bolt of Simonis, everything pool-related was written off as a business expense. My CPA had no problem with it and the IRS never questioned it for the five years that I did this.

It seems to me that if you give a pool lesson for money or play in tournaments where money is awarded that you might be able to do this. If you do, please use the AZB Marketplace for your purchases.

The idea for vendors to donate is a good one and may be a great idea for tax year 2010 as the economy is supposed to pick up in the second quarter.
