Last Pocket 8-ball Rules?

I am learning that making my last ball in the side, makes it a bit uphill pocketing the 8. :eek:
You're absolutely correct about the side pocket. Against a good player if you don't make it the first time you'll probably never get a decent shot at your hole again.

Yeah, Frank-It becomes like 'Golf', lagging to the 3 or 6 hole with 3,4,5 railers-real uphill.

Try this. It also leads to some strategy and safety play that normally wouldn't happen in 8-ball games.

This is the first 8-ball game I ever played, and I didn't know it could be played any other way until I got out in the world.
We played by these rules also, except for one variation, no ball could be legally pocketed until the 1 or 15 was pocketed in one of the side pockets. This determined which balls(stripes or solids) that player had, and the other player could not pocket any of his balls until the remaining 1 or 15 was made in the opposite side pocket.Made for some tough games.
