Latest case off the bench

I had an ultra clean piece of Wickett & Craig leather and decided to make a "naked" case with brown trim. The leather is finished with my usual acrylic finish with UV blocker, so the natural color of the leather should remain pretty close to the same throughout the life of the case. It might darken a little if exposed to direct sunlight though. The case features my ArmorSoft interior and comes in at under 4 1/2 lbs.

You can tell a lot about man's work from his work area. Your table is uber clean and neat, and i think you're a meticulous man. A perfectionist with perhaps even a little OCD. With such traits there's no way you can do bad work. :wink:

This UV Blocker thing sounds cool, i've always wanted a nude coloured case but am worried it'll darken too much over time and with tooling the design will change too much. Am also worried that my sweaty hands will impart too much oil onto the case for it to darken...would love to see how this UV Blocker thing stands, this could be my solution.
 
Really love the natural leather look, that is a beautiful case! If it had pockets I'd be dangerously tempted to make a bad financial decision!!!

Lol.... Yes my wife was the first to diagnose my OCD. The finish is acrylic resolene, you hand oils wont get through it, and like I say it has a UV blocker, but I wouldnt leave it in direct sunlight. The best thing about the finish is that its water resistant, but will allow a conditioner to soak through it, its just slower to absorb.

Thanks everybody, Im moving towards making cases how I want them, and selling them that way as opposed to custom carved orders. I spend a lot of time on the customs and take a lot of extra care making some of the parts multiple times until Im happy with them. So I cant make the customs fast enough to be profitable unless I really up the pricing which Im not willing to do at this point. I would rather make a great case at a competitive price.

Chuck, that is simply one of the best cases I have seen in some time. The simplicity of the design, the minimal tooling, and the neutral pallet you have used created and very marketable product for many players not wanting the flashy style or the over use of color. Not to mention the flawless end result. Very nice product indeed.

Thank you sir! Im a big fan of understated elegance, kind of like a chef that uses high quality ingredients and lets the ingredients shine as opposed to trying to cram every technique they know and every popular flavor of the month into the dish. When I unrolled this side of leather I was awestruck at how clean it was.
