Latest News from Deno re:Qualifiers

Thanks for the support guys.

Jake, to answer your question, I didn't go to Orlando because it was my last week off before starting the new job and I didn't want to spend it in a glorified poolroom.

I actually ate the cost of my ticket and hotel because I couldn't get a refund on them. Orbitz sucks.

IPT North American 8-Ball Open Championship Qualifiers Announced

Please listen to IPT Founder Kevin Trudeau explain the qualifying system for 2006 - click here.

The International Pool Tour is the only true "open" tour in the history of the sport. Any person, of any age, man or woman, from any country, can play in our "open" tournaments.

The IPT N.A. 8-Ball Open Championship has over $2 million in prize money, regardless of the number of players. To see the complete payout schedule, click here.

There will be 25 tournaments around the world where the top two players will earn entry into the IPT N.A. 8-Ball Open Championship.

There will be five, three-day tournaments going on simultaneously starting on the following dates: May 26, June 2, June 9, June 16, and June 23.
Locations will be announced soon. The maximum number of players at each tournament will vary based on the number of tables available and other factors. Entry is first-come, first-served. Entries must be made in advanced. No entries will be accepted at the door.

There are two entry fee levels. Full entry fee is $1000. Coming in first or second in the qualifier earns you entry into the IPT N.A. 8-Ball Open Championship. Over $2 million dollars in prize money will be earned by the 200 players. First place is $350,000. More importantly, last place is $2000! For the complete payout schedule, click here.

All winnings earned will count towards the top 100 Money List which wins you a 2007 IPT Player's Card. All 2007 IPT players are guaranteed $100,000! For more information on how this is earned, click here.

Any non-IPT member who places in the top six in the IPT N.A. 8-Ball Open Championship earn automatic invitations to play in the 2006 IPT Players Championship and IPT Masters Championship. Over $2.5 million in prize money will be given away at these two championships. For the complete payout schedules, click here.

The second entry fee level is $500. If you enter a qualifying tournament at the $500 entry fee level and come in first or second, you still are entered into the IPT N.A. 8-Ball Open Championship. However, you will only receive 50% of any prize money you win. Your prize money will not count towards the money list. If you place in the top six, you will still be invited to the IPT Masters and the IPT Players Championships, though you will only receive 50% of any prize money you win.

This qualifying system is designed to allow players from all over the world to enter tournaments without huge travel expenses and costs. It is also designed to weed out players who know that they have no chance in the tournaments.

We encourage players to set up pre-qualification tournaments amongst yourselves. A good example would be to have five players put up $100 or $200 each, and play a one day Round Robin tournament. The winner earns the money for the entry fee into the qualifier!

As I see it ...

They are going to conduct 5 tournaments at various locations over 3 days on May 26, June 2nd, June 9th, June 16th, and June 23rd.

I hope the Midwest will be considered for a qualifier, and not just the east
and west coasts.

Another thing I have noticed, the dates of May 26th and June 2nd seem to be in conflict with the Valley International Championships in Vegas at those
times, as that is usually when it is scheduled.

Basically, the IPT wants thousands of pool players to fund its tournaments.
It sounds to me like a Pyramid scheme- a concept that only works when there is a constant flow of cash from the bottom to the top.

If you have a Q tourney with 40 players there is $80,000 in the pot. 2 players win spots that according to the IPT cost $2,000 each. If that was so, the 2 players would have between them $76,000, but they dont. That money goes to the IPT. So in fact, the spots have cost the players $40,000, not $2,000. Big difference.
If you have pre-pre Qs, what you finally end up with is two players with chance of winning something and 100s of players with nothing! They have basically given all their money to the IPT, so that the IPT can pay the top pro's.

The money flow which was suppossed to eminate from KT is now flowing to KT. The cry in the beginning was that KT was going to do things his way because he was funding it!

A pyramid scheme? Not quite. A pryamid scam depends on new people to keep bringing in more new people. It ends when it runs out of people.

The qualifier system will bring in money to the IPT but other than winning a spot on the tour there are no other rewards for the players. Players do not receive money for bringing in other players as in a pyramid scam.

Qualifiers have been around for some time. There are qualifiers for the WPBA. I'll bet right now the officers of the WPBA are kicking themselves and wondering why they didn't think of running qualifiers like the IPT. It sure is a good way to generate income. You might even see them using a similar system where they invite the top ranked 54 women to an event and the next ten spots are filled by qualifiers.

Next month we will see how many players will be enticed to play in the 25 IPT qualifiers. There might be as few as a dozen players show up at a qualifier. Maybe less. Sounds like pretty good odds for the players.

If only 10 show up at each qualifier that's still 250 players and at $1,000 each that brings in 250K to the IPT. Not bad. And how many of those 250 will only be "B" players? After all, there are just so many great players out there.

The trick will be in knowing which qualifier to sign up for. I'll bet right now that anyone who has sent in his/her application is not about to tell where they will be playing.

You have to admit one thing, the IPT sure has brought a lot to think about to this game.

Yes I used scam because that is what is associated with the word pyramid when one is trying to entice money from people.

As far as running out of money or people, where do you think the money comes from? The people.

It is amazing how fast the numbers grow when you start doubling them.
That is why pyramids scams are short lived. Usually 30 days.

Try it, start with 1 and double it 30 times.

After paying $41.05 for gas yesterday I am going to look into buying a Honda that gets 38mpg and trade in my Chevy van. Goodbye GM. And here I thought people were saying we were in Iraq for the oil.
