if you have the taps, inserts and pins you can build your own ans save a ton, make them from aluminum, brass, wood whatever.

I use 1" derlin, cut to 1/2" long or so. Drill and tap that, then just use a joint pin with that screwed on for the shafts, and take the pin out to use for the butts. Simple and cheap. You may still have to buy a few for odd ball threadsizes if you don't have pins or a tap, but you'll save yourself a bunch on the common stuff.
