lathe question

has anyone on here used a lathe or any equip from unique?? just wondering. I am in the market for a new lathe and would love some reviews

It really comes down to space and money. Unique is great for low funds and or space. Of course it also depends on what kind of work you are wanting to do.

I agree with your space analogy but not on the low funds analogy. Their products are fool proof.

IMHO the full size metal lathe set up correctly wll do the best job. Not the same price range.

I have owned a unique repair lathe---great product and great service ----- I have sold it and bought this http://www.midamericapool.com/index_files/Page331.htm. Again great product ---great service and have just added the cnc unit to it. Works great. You wont go wrong with either you choose---Pm me if you have any specific questions.

I'll probably sell my Taper Shaper soon. My cnc saw machine is nearly dialed in. Jim completely rebuilt the thing awhile back(I have the receipts and I'm sure he would remember the machine if you asked him). About the only thing that isn't new are the Thomson rails

I have a Cue Monster CNC from Unique and it is very accurate and reliable.

The customer service from Jim is as good as it gets.

Great people and product to work with. I have owned and used about all that is out there.

I like full size Metal lathes as well but for support on what to do for Pool Cues Jim would be easy to deal with.

Believe me, you will always find uses for it in a shop and it is portable enough to bring to tournaments etc to do Ferrule, Tip and re wraps.

Dollar for hour at the right tournaments you can make more than building cues unless you have a fairly established name.

My shop's equipped with (among others) 2 cue companions, taper shaper, cue maker and 2 cue monsters. Have another cue companion at the pool room and a travel tipper in the car. Can't emphasize enough the quality and prompt customer service by Jim.
