Lathe speed for tips

When trimming and shaping tip with a razor about 1200rpm seems to work the best for me with a fresh blade, when sanding I turn it down to around 750rpm.

when cutting and shaping.... I run the lathe pretty fast...................... I don't tend to run it as fast when sanding.................

the surface speed relates to size so as you move out from center the surface speed is factor of the circumference times the speed basically.
you might pick a different optimum speed for a 10 mm snooker tip than a 1/2" pool tip in order to arrive at the same surface speed at the outer edge, the center is no different obviously and I assume you probably won't keep changing the spindle speed, but rather , find a happy medium.
