I just bought a new shaft with an Everest medium layered tip. I noticed within about 10 minutes that the top layer of the tip seemed to be peeling off. I've never used a layered tip before, so I was wondering if it means the tip is defective or if I should just reshape it and forget about it.

I just got an Everest tip and before installing it I noticed a gap between the layers. I put my finger nail in it and peeled back the top two layers like there was hardly any glue between them. I then proceeded to cleanly peel each and every layer away. Might have been a bad tip, but every layer?. Come on.
never had that happen with a sniper,moori,or talasman medium. i'd switch brands

I've had this happen with a Sniper but not with an Everest. I did find that when I took the tip shaper tool to the Everest, it went away at a fairly quick pace. That being said, the tip played a whole lot better after I got a little more than half the tip removed. The situation Klopek mentioned above has not happened to me, but then I haven't had a LOT of experience using the Everest tip. I DO however love the way it plays.

There are cases of an occasional bad tip, but delamination of layered tips is much more commonly due to incorrect installation. If you do a search, you will find several threads that detail the proper way to install snipers and other layered tips.
