LD Shaft/Tip Question

I just recently bought a Predator Cue with a 314 shaft shaft as my first low deflection cue. I like the cue but find the tip way too hard for my taste. My question is: What effect on low deflection does the hardness of tip have? I would like to put something like a Moori soft on the cue.

Thanks in advance for the help.

no effect. the amount of energy transferred multiplied by the contact time are nearly identical for soft versus medium versus hard tip.

Like breed, said. No effect.
If you want something that will work with any and all shafts, however, try one of the new FourSkin tips from Steamer Cue Sports Ltd. Not only will you be pleasantly surprised at their low cost, and low maintenance, you'll be somewhat aroused at their performance, as well.
Three types of FourSkin tips are available. Soft, kinda hard, and damned hard. The damned hard tips are for those who really want to drive that cue ball into the stack.

When I played with a ld laminated shaft I used nothing but moori softs.
sniper, kamui, ultra skin, onxy, would be some of your other options.

I coundnt get use to the LD laminated shafts , so I swithed back to solid maple. It seemed like a never ending struggle to find the right tip.
Everyone is different so what works for one person may not work for the other.
Good luck in your search and please post what you finally come up with that fits your style of shooting.

The hardness of the tip does not significantly change deflection. This topic has been discussed a couple of times on this forum and this seems to be the consensus.

The tip that comes with a new predator i believe to be an "Everest". This tip is not to my taste either. It does not have the "springyness" (is that a word?) that a "moori" does and it just feels hard and dry. I suggest a "moori" (medium or soft) or a "kamui black soft" or super soft. If you want something a bit cheaper a "sniper" is a good choice.

Thanks for the input and information guys. I have a Moori soft on hand that I will try on it.

Shoot me your address in a PM and I will send you out a single layer medium that may be to your liking... Only thing it will cost you is feedback
