And what I mean by perfect night is running out all your games and not letting your opponent score anything.

Has anyone here had one?

I have come close a few times and tonight was another close one. I ran out the first 2 games and won 10-0 on both and was running out the 3rd game and got out of position on my last object ball and had to try to kick it in from behind and almost made it, it was oh so close. :frown: I still won the game 10-5 though.

That's always been a goal of mine, to get a perfect 30-0 night. I guess I get to keep trying.

in apa they have a 20 point scale. if u win by 1 ball then its split 12 to 8. if u keep them below a certain number of balls then it becomes 13 to 7 and down the line that way. all the way to 20 to 0. thats considered a skunk and they give u a cool pepe lepew patch at the end of the season.

i skunked a 5 when i was a 6 in apa. i think i had to keep him at 5 balls or less. im not sure the numbers vary on skill level. and no ive never been skunked.

by the way in apa each ball counts for a point and the 9 counts for 2. each rack counts as 10 points and you race to your certain amount of points designated by your skill level. for people that dont know. max level is a 9 and they go to 75 points. lowest level is a 1 and i think they go to 14 or something like that

The league I shoot in is a ten point system. Pretty much a BCA league, 8 ball. You get a point for each ball you make and the 8 ball is basically worth 3 points. I've had plenty of nights that I've won all three games (30 points) and kept my opponents to single digits for points but never a 30-0 night ............. yet.;)

My offensive average is always right around 8.5, so on average I get 8.5 points per game and my defensive average is around 5.25 to 5.5 so my opponenets score 5.25 to 5.5 points on average, therefore I get a net of around 3 to 3.25. I'm not sure how that would translate into an APA system. I'm either an 8 or a 9 when they figure up handicaps.

30-5, that's great. It's shooting like that, that makes me want to play for hours on end.

This is my second session of BCA 8B.

The best I've done, thus far is 50-12 (5 wins, 12 balls by my opponents).
I BAR'ed my first rack, and ran out a couple of my opponents' dry breaks.

I think my buddy had a 50-14 that same night.
And we had another guy on our team get a 50-somethin that same night.

Our team's handicap is sick. We pretty much have to get near 50 per round to win that round.

Some nights when I'm playing good, I strive for the 50-0....but I know a lot of luck has to be involved. You are basically hoping that your opponent dry breaks (alternating breaks).

Some nights....I'm struggling just to win each game, and shutting out my opponents is a far away dream.

Dang, those are some good stats.

This BCA season I've played 30 games and I only averaged 7.53 per game.
I was an SL7 in APA 8B.

Our BCA league you play 4 for a possible 40 points, so it's really hard to hold your opponent to zero, but I and others on my team, have held them to single digits quite a few times.

As a team last year we did score a perfect 200, which means all 5 guys won all 4. We've only done that once. The other team had like 85 points or something. Their team captain was drunk and mad by the end. He pulls out a pile of cash and said I have $5K who wants to try and take it. I think my whole team almost got in a fight trying to get to him. My buddy ended up taking like $900 off him in the hour and half before last call.

In the VNEA record book you will find a hand full of 50-0. A very rare feat...SPF=randyg

LOL ........ it's amazing how hurt pride mixed with alcohol tends to hurt the pocketbook of the offender. I've seen it happen a few times myself but have been too nice of a guy to take advantage of someone in that situation as of yet. With the current state of affairs/economy I may have to rethink my decision next time though. ;)

As a 4 in CPA ( the canadian version of the APA) I beat a 6 20-0 they got like 3,4 bals to my 31 ..I was on FIRE ....I'm no longer a 4 now

There was no shortage of beer drank on our side, I assure you. I didn't feel sorry for him at all, he was a loud mouth. In the last round he was yelling at his girlfriend and made her leave the bar. I think he got what he deserved.

i know the league operator in livermore (will) has had at least one of those. it was on a tight diamond bar box table too. he broke and ran out 2 racks and ran out 2 racks on dry breaks. they were pretty tricky too

we do the points up to 15 so i guess a perfect night would be 60. closest i've ever gotten is a 54

In 3 game leagues, I've done 30-0 twice. It helps if you're breaking twice.

In 5 game leagues, I've had several 50-(10 or less). I've not done a 50-0 yet, my best has been 50-6. I ran all 3 of my breaks and my opponent got a few on their break.

My best is a 40 - 3

however another guy on my team got a 40 - 0 last session, hes the first ever to do it in the dsm vnea.

My team also had a round where we won it 40 - 0, i thought that was pretty good.

50-2

I had a 50-2 once in the state masters tourney against a very good team. We ended up winning the winners bracket and then proceeded to get double dipped. Yea, that sucks, but we won it all the following year. I got second in singles that year too, losing to the guy who scored the 2. The following year, the same guy replaced me on the team (I moved away) and the proceeded to repeat with back to back championships.

Sadly, I am lucky to pick up a stick a couple times a year now. :(

Anyone have a link to the 50-0 stats?

My best in a 3 game format is 30-2, twice. Both times the 2 points came on my opponets break. In a 5 game format I've had 50 to single digits multiple times. Even on those nights everything has to be going right. Your opponet is breaking at least 2, if not 3 times.

I know what you mean as far as everything has to be going right to even have a chance at a perfect night. You need your opponent to dry break, etc.

As the Captain and 5th player on my league team I pass up on a lot of opportunities to go after a run just to make sure I get off the points needed to assure a win in the round.

In tournament play I've run out 3-4 games in a row a number of times and not even given my opponent a shot other than maybe one break shot that they came up dry on, so if those games were scored as league is I'd have a few 30-0 or 40-0 sets but I play tournaments a little differently than I play league as far as strategy because of the point issues on each round in league.

I think if I played in an earlier spot on league night I could throw caution to the wind in a lot more situations and go for the big score and the run but right now the way my league team is comprised I feel more comfortable putting myself in the pressure situations when they happen rather than any of my other team members.

All this is good and all. 50-0, 30-2. Yeah, sure. But, the question is ... did you take three strippers home and not make it into work the next day. Come on... now that's the perfect night. Throw in some cashage bet on the lopsided score and really impress us. Oh yeah, was the whole thing on TAR? And two of the strippers twins? Shoot it straight to us. Tell all.

YOU ARE MCLOVIN!!!

I never pay attention to the opponent's points... In 8 ball league, to skunk someone you also have to have luck, your break must not pocket any of his balls (and of course you need to have a decent look at the group that dropped). If someone wins their game in their very first inning, and does that for every match of the evening, that's perfect pool, no matter what the other guy's score was.

I do like seeing nice win rates tho, so hats off especially to dolphin.

The best I can claim is the local win streak record, 27 in a row. I'm often at the top of a lot of the stat categories but not at the top in the two I really want: win% and runouts.
