League ...... perfect night anyone?

We have had a lot of guys finish the night "perfect" in wins, but we play a 10 game match format so to go without giving up a ball is almost impossible. Three weeks ago my personal best for the season was 10-0, 100 points for, I think 18 points against, 4 or 5 eros and a few 10-0, give or take. I was better than plus 80. I had my winning streak snapped last week at 27 games. The league coordinator entered the sheets backwards so my stats say 23, I could get it fixed but that is far too much effort.

Our current league record for ero's is 6 of 10 (superleague) and 4 of 6 (3 player division).Previous record(superleague) was five held by 5 players.

But I am sure Snorks isnt far off setting some records. ;)

I played in-house leagues for years with 2-man teams, 8-ball and 9-ball. For 8-ball, used a 9 point system - you got 2 points for making the 8, and 1 ball for every one of your opponents balls left on the table. We played 6 games each, where you only broke 3 of those games, so perfect game would be 54 points. You blew a potential perfect night even if you broke and ran every rack but made 1 solid and 1 stripe on the break, since your opponent would get credit for the 1 ball and you would only get 8 for the win.

I had many scores in the high 30's and low 40's, as did my partner and a few others over the years, and a couple in the mid 40's. The high for the leagues was 48 (9-9-9-8-7-6) for all in house leagues for all the years they played - quite a few matches.

One night I started off with a break and run on my break for 9. Then opponents broke dry twice and I ran out. Then I broke 2 more times and ran out both times, only making one or two balls of the same type. I had 45 points in 5 games. You can imagine what happened next - opponent broke, barely made a ball, and ran out - FOR HIS ONLY RUNOUT OF THE SEASON! He would have been the APA equivalent of a 5 maybe in 8 ball, so wouldnt' run out very often from the break at all. Had 2 bank shots, ran into balls, etc. but got out. So in one rack he squashed my chance at the first perfect night, blew my 6 win night (we kept track of those too), and blew my chance at high night (which was 46 at the time). Funny how things work out sometimes...

Came close once playing BCA masters here in Calgary.

Broke and ran my first two breaks, both opponents broke dry and I ran them out as well so in the first 4 games I was 4 ERO's. I broke the last rack, made a ball, table was tricky but I was working it out and got to a point I should have got out but had to jack up off the rail and punch a ball in with a stun bottom type of shot into the corner with the cueball frozen to the rail close to the side pocket. Rattled it, opponent who was to go on to being the Alberta 9-ball champion later on ran out, I was therefore 4-1 with 4 ero's. Kinda sucked.

I have only played in a BCA where we played 4 games a night. We did not count anything like you guys our mentioning 30-2 50-2 etc.

In APA 8ball I have broke and ran 4 racks in races to 5 three times but havent been able to run a set to 5.
A couple weeks ago in a 6-2 race I lost the lag then ran out after my opponets break. 1-0 Then broke and ran 2 coming up dry on the next break. Opponet made 2 balls and then I ran that out. Then I broke and ran the rest out.
The tough thing in APA pool is that its hard to just look at breaking and running. Its not the smart play most of the time.

Last week I played another top player here...
I won 5-3 and we had 3 innings with one safe. He missed position on the 8ball or it would have went hill-hill with him having a great chance to break and run.

In BCA i have gotten close...50-opponents single digits.

In APA 9-ball...I beat a guy 65 balls/point - 4 balls/points. I was 7 rank and he was a 5. I ran out the first 3 racks and then played a good safe. Then ran that rack and then played another good safe...it was 30 - 0 before he got a shot and then he had to kick. It was 40 something - 0 before he actually got a shot to make a ball.
