I feel i also got stronger in pool too while learning this marvelous game. Of course my pocketing is little bit rusty due playing almost only 3-cushion but i can put 5-7 packs more consistent in pool now than ever!
Anyways I just hit record button often when i practice and I got my first run of 10 on video!
I think I made 4 times 9 before finally got my first 2 digit run.
I set my goal to be able to run 15 someday when I fell love to this game(too).
For some pool players the so-called "small" carom games are going to be at least as helpful as 3-cushion. I think Efren primarily played cushion caroms and balkline when he played carom billiards. Yeah. That is what you learn in this game. Many people don´t understand follow and draw can be sidespin on rail too. Also one of best learning from game is that full hit to object ball kinda create sidespin and thin cut eat away much of it. There is a thread -- in the carom sub-forum? -- where games with Blomdahl commentating are gathered. He seems to think a lot more about the shots than most.... I started to put more think on those things after listening one of greatest player of all time in 3-c, Torbjörn Blomdahl in commentary booth on 3-c games. Especially those games where he commentate his own games afterwards.

I figured if Walter thought it had value, I’d have to try it.
…late ‘78, in a long one pocket session, I realized that Walter’s shot might have been the most valuable of my drill.
….it had taken the ‘rote’ out of my stroke.
Rote, to me, is controlling your body….the cue is moving because you’re holding on to the damn thing.What do you mean by rote?
Simple carom is very interesting to me. I only have pool table access so I practice carom and 1 cushion as much as I can. I am hoping it will help on an actual 10 ft heated table.
