Learning from losses

Competitors hate to lose. I'm in that camp. But tonight, down 17-2, I came back to actually lead then lost by 3. Setting aside those APA bashers who will hijack this thread, I gotta say I'm trying to learn from this loss. Anyone have a good quote to get me through?

You give the best you have - you win or lose. What's the difference if you give all you've got to give?

Quit whining, loser!

Shape up or ship out!

We have no time for whimpering and whining!

Winning isn't everything!

It is the ONLY thing!

Now get your ass back in line and let's not hear about this anymore!

:) :)

Just kidding! Had a flashback from an old movie or book.

Pool is a fickle game -- you can play bad and win, and you can even play well and lose. There's a time to focus on winning but more often than not you're better off just focusing on playing well and letting the wins and losses take care of themselves.

''Your losses are your teachers''. Same as everything else in life.

Wise words and so true.

Work on improving your game and not letting individual results influence you. It's the collection of results over time that matter. Hopefully you see the amount of W's going up and L's going down over time.

In leagues, just keeping the same W/L ratio as you move up in rating is a sign of improvement.
