Least Prolific Cue Maker

Barry Szamboti

I think Barry Szamboti has made only in the neighborhood of 60 cues in the last 5 years. I am not fortunate enough to own one of his cues, but if I had the choice pick one cue to own at this very moment it would be one of Barry's. The BS cue that Highend Cues sold @ VF was "the cue" of the show. (just my opinion) I think the cue sold for around $12,000 and I just about fell over the first time I saw it.

Danny Tibbitts would be first with Thomas Wayne being second IMO among the highly collectible cues. Both build very high dollar cues and very few of them. Danny offers to sell me his equipment just about everytime I talk to him. He builds two or three cues a year now.

I think ALEX BRICK has made 5 SP's from DUFFRIN blanks and 4 "custom" cues in the last 2 yrs.

Greetings,

Arnot cues: www.arnotQ.com. The product speaks for itself. Cues that look great and shoot straight. Could be one of the best kept secrets around.

His work is sub par and he can't sell any so why make them? Best kept secret LOL, that's a good one.

With a lifetime output of about 70 cues, it has to be Danny Tibbitts.
I agree.Tibbitts cues are a rarity.I sure would like to get one.

If you are talking fairly premium cues on up, there's really no argument that can be made for anyone else besides Danny Tibbitts. Even though Barry's only been making a few, he's making far more than Danny. :) or should I say :(

Murray Tucker and Paul Fanelli.

As far as I know Murray Tucker is still no longer making cues, he runs a very successful biz in FL. Murray never made many, probably less than 50 total. Have only seen pics and read raves on forums. They are all beautiful. Just barely missed buying his personal playing cue on ebay, another hundred would have bot it.......:( Missed an Alex Brick when they closed the auction with 2 minutes to go.

Would Tascarella be in this low low low number category? Hercek? Searing?

They all don't make a lot of cues per year, but I'd bet Danny has them all beat at probably around 5-10 per year for the last several years !!!

Somebody mentioned Coster earlier. That's a good choice for past cuemakers. I think his total production was around 130. Another was Libra (Sanchez & Potter) out of Dallas, TX. I've heard around 150 or so total cues produced.

low production

art cantando made 9 last year, Bob manzino makesless than 10,thomas Wayne makes aprox 4 a year and now designs magic tricks and also made some for the mind freak guy, barry since he hurt his hand has really dropped production but makes more higher end cues, and ron haley makes very few !! these are all great makers!:)

Several,

DPK, Martinez, Keith Kustom, Haley, Runde...all great cuemakers whos production is pretty darn low.

Mike Neal from Lincoln, Nebraska. He only makes like 40-50 cues per year and they are great. Bill Schick is actually the man that showed Mike the finer points of cue making. He makes all his cues by hand, one at a time, like they were made in the early 1900's. If the one I had would have worked better with my game I would have kept it.

I don't know this guy and Doubt that Bill TAUGHT him the "finer points", Bill Schick is a great guy and an awesome cuemaker and would answer anyone's questions about cue making but to say someone learned the finer points would lead us to believe he worked in his shop for a legnth of time and I've never heard of Mike Neal working in Bill's shop.

I was wondering which cue maker builds the fewest cues a year? I'm not talking about who has the longest waiting list, or the guy who cuts bar cues in half to sell at league night. Real honest to goodness cuemakers that make the fewest cues. I was thinking Searing,Black Boar, or Murray Tucker but I'd really like to know what others think.

Andy

Steve Kornele makes a great cue and only about 60 of them a year.
