Leather Case Suggestions {PLEASE}

Big pockets are a high priority for me. I like to have my "stuff" with me. SilverFox BR-2 is the answer for me. It's a semihard case w/huge pockets....or at least they were huge but I've seen pics of BR-2's that didn't have the top pocket. They had only a pouch at the top of the case.

I put tubes in mine for added protection, it's still lighter than the others mentioned and holds more stuff plus 3x6 with room for my "Cue Reach" extension. I think I've tried every style (I have about 20 cases!) and the Silver Fox is the most versatile.

I own a:

Jack Justis
Dan Whitten
Instroke Saddle Series
Instroke Cowboy (older)

along with a few others.

Because I was carrying a jump cue, my Saddle Series was getting the most use with its side zipper. But now that I carry a jump/break cue instead, both the Whitten and the Justis are back in the game. Currently, I'm using my Whitten. It's very elegant, plain black 2/4. If it gets scuffed, I polish and buff it.

My Justis is a personalized custom case with my name on it. Very striking.

Now there are (2) Whitten 3 x 6's on ebay. I new one Pre-owned.... ;)

Hi Sizl,

You might also try one of these (from both ends of the spectrum): It's George or Chas Clements. I use an old brown gator patterned leather George 3 x 6 that I think a car could run over with no problems for the cues inside. A little heavy, but the price is right. On the other end of the universe is Chas Clements, who is a true artist. You can get a nice elephant hide for $1,400 +. Unrealistic for most, but ya gotta have goals in life!

I've had an Instroke for many years - I guess about 10 - and it's survived quite well all the abuse I've heaped upon it, from innumberable airplane and car trips to the occasional temper tantrum :( and various mishaps. My husband has had a Whitten for about the same number of years and he's found it to be a fine case as well (although his has withstood less abuse, as his anger management is better - LOL!!). Guess it's really a matter of taste and budget. Good luck and let us all know what you decide!

As someone who owns a few cases I say buy a Fellini... :D

Actually Whitten and Justis are very affordable custom cases. Instrokes are a decent case that can be had for a fraction of the above mentioned cases. Ron Thomas and Engles are bringing back the Fellini style of case, my favorite.

I use Justis cases when I carry my break cue and some gear, but alot of times I use an old Fellini cause I want to travel light.

I am anticipating the arrival (at least another month) of a new custom cue. As we all know custom cues are not cheap, so I need to protect it the best I can. That being said I really don't know a whole lot about good (protective from the elements) cases. So could I please impose on my AZ brothers and sisters and PLEASE :D give me some info as too what some of the better brands of cases are?

Leather
2 butts- 4 shafts

Thanks in advance

Check out some of the "George's". They are discontinued now but there are still a few kicking around on E-bay and they're definately air tight and rugged. I have several 2x4's. also not as pricey as the whittens or justis. Jack Justis cases are da'bomb! but be prepared to pay and wait.
