Leather cue case care

I have an Instroke 3 by 7 buffalo case. Especially during the winter I find that I am constantly rubbing on a leather conditioner with a paste like consistency to keep the case looking good, and it looks great after. This stuff is a pain in the ass and it takes me a while to get the job done, cleaning out all the edges where the paste gets stuck.

Does anyone use a spray on conditioner on their case? Either sprayed directly on the case and rubbed in with a micro fiber towel, or onto the towel and rubbed on?

Hey,hey. Watch it. I have a reputation as a "negative a^*hole" that i'm trying to keep intact. ;) Dean, your posts are awesome and i only wish i'd owned the stable of cues you have over the years. I think i may have to order one of those Jerry R's befor he hangs up his lathe.

I don't think you're supposed to do anything to the "Buffalo" series cases. On other leather, Bickmore - Bick #4 Leather Conditioner is fantastic!

I use Safir neutral and URAD neutral on my gator and lizard boots/shoes. One is French and one is Italian polish.

Maybe so but those cases look like crap new and unconditioned. Just saw a new one at derby that was for sale in a booth, 10+ years of conditioning and mine looks amazing but it's a lot of work. Shouldn't be much different to any cow hide I would imagine. I have just been using Maguire's that I use on my car leather. Thanks so much for all the tips guys.

Lexol

I use lexol cleaner and conditioner on my table pockets and my cue case. It was recommended to me by a leather shop we frequent. It has always done a great job. I use the liquid. Wipe it on and gently rub it in.

Thanks guys, I think I'm going to try the lexol liquid.

I have an original Instroke and have never done anything to it.
No leather treatment, zippers are 100%, all latches are still like new.
Truly a quality case.
Maybe the difference is where you live, I live in the south.

Is it a buffalo? I'd love to see a picture to compare. Mine looks nothing like a new one. The leather looks like rich mahogany and smells of many leatherbound books.

I've used lexol sin the 50's, on my speed skate boots to keep em from dry cracking, and on my m/c jacket, my boots, belts and my cue case. Also use it on my leather seats in my Explorer. Nearly pure lanolin is what it is. Make sure you shake the container before usage. I'd get the larger one.

I would contact John Barton who founded Instroke and ask his opinion. You can find him at https://jbcases.com/
