Leather Wrap machine?

Has anyone had a problem with the leather moving as you cut it.
I would assume the jig should hold the leather down tightly so it cant move but have had some problems near the ends and have had to do some freehand triming.
When you say moving, do you mean, stretching? If the leather is stretching, a sharper blade, may correct the problem.

I use a new blade for every wrap.
When I go to push the edges togather one side may be a bit to wide (overlaps) near the end. I stop, trim it as best I can, and go on.
This seems to happen on the soft untextured leather like Atlas sells.
No Problems on the textured stuff so I guess it is stretching.

Unique Products, Leather Wrap Fixture

Hey Guys,

Uniques leather wrap fixture is $400 and comes with the template as well as a DVD showing you the process, step by step. If you want the cutting template, you can purchase it for $75. The cue rides on Teflon blocks which are spring loaded, and the fixture actually holds the cue against stop blocks. When you remove the cutting plate, the cue does not move when cutting each side of the leather. The fixture is made small, so you can rotate it easily when making your cut on the leather. These fixtures make leather wraps very simple. If you want more information you can PM me.

The DeAngelo is the original, the best, and it cost less. It works great also!!!

I have used both wrap jigs. Nothing wrong with the DeAngelo but the Unique is actually better made and easier to use. Most anyone who actually used both jigs would know this. No doubt Unique was able to capitalize and improve upon the DeAngelo. The Unique template is also better in my opinion--but I wish it was longer. The Unique template is lighter, (made from, I think, hardened aluminum instead of steel) and has a handle on top.

I can't speak for pricing but the Unique people have been straightaway in all of my contacts with them.

I started with unique products equipment and am very pleased with the design, performance, and the service when needed.
If this thread has become a personality contest let me say this ... Bryan and Jim are two of the most helpful people in the cuemaking business.

They will have a booth set up at Valley Forge ... stop by and check them out.

How does rating someone on your "nice" scale have anything to do with this thread? I'm not plugging one over the other but if you can't get along with Bryan and Jim... What else can I say?
