Leather Wrap Seam

Great thread

This old thread is really good.
I got a cue brought to me today that has the problem that the OP had mentioned here. It is a normal lizard print that you see on a lot of cues nowadays.
He likes the wrap, but you can feel quite a bit of the seem. It isn't really bad, just enough to feel and he would like that fixed. Is there an easy way to sand it down without messing it up?
Any ideas before I attack it ;-)
I am thinking of using a sharp blade to cut the lip just barely and use dye and master shine. Should I sand any or would that mess up the wrap?
I might end up ripping it off and install a new one but would like not to have to do that.
Ideas?

Thanks!

Don't sand it! Try a hard roller to press it down first. If that doesn't work, I'd try to carefully peel the seam back and see why it isn't laying flat. Sometimes, the thickness from left to right is different.

Very good

Ryan - thanks a bunch... That worked like a charm.
I didn't think a hard roller would work because it was done some time ago and wasn't the least bit fresh ;-) Ya learn something every day!
I hope you do realize how much help you guys are to us small repair guys!
This forum is really great.

Thanks again!
