I live about a 1/2 mile away from the place. Best known for holding the Houston Open and many a long night for many road players. Place is older than the hills around here. Just thought I'd pass on the news to the many here who have come thru there. Don't know the extent of the damage, but will post later with an update.

Just drove by and the front doors were open with box fans trying to get all the smoke out. Thank God that place is still standing. The damage I could see from the outside is severe wall damage on the side closest to the Cracker Barrel back by the bathrooms and the video games. Several of the shrubs outside are toasted. Apparently, it was a pretty hot fire. It looks like the firemen chopped a few holes in the roof to vent the heat and smoke too. Hopefully, the damage to the wall isn't too bad, but they will obviously be closed for a while. There was an A/C / electrician truck in the front, so progress is in the works. God Speed to the gang there. If ya'll know Mindy and the gang please send em prayers for a quick recovery. I hope this doesn't screw up the next Houston Open. I'm looking forward to Gabe defending his title.

Just talked to Ted Dean, the owner and he said the damage is quite exstensive but anything other than that is merely speculaton. Lots of damage to the south walls and roof. All the tables seemingly at this point are in good shape. I guess we will know more later.

The question of the hour is:

Where in the world will Denis Strickland be able to play while Legends is closed in which the room owners will allow him to get up on the table on all fours to shoot instead of using a bridge?

Thats a shame! I know lots of us really enjoy Legend's and the great tournaments they always put on. They are especially a huge promoter of women's pool and have hosted a number of Hunter events there.

The only upside is maybe the bathrooms might get a new makeover!

He will have to go to Bogies, where the real players play:D

I think an even better question is, will they have it restored in time for the next tourney?

They still don't know all the damages yet, but there is definitlely work to be done. Their best guess is that it will take about a month to reopen. Still, everyone is just guessing.
Denis will probably be right up the road at Breakers. Again, guessing.

I have been to Legends. Are there other rooms in the Houston area that have gold crowns and decent action to watch and perhaps partake in?

Somebody told me a room recently opened in houston that has diamond pros. What is it called? Where is it?

I hate to hear that about legends. There is a decent tournament there on thursday nights.

That would be Bogies. They have several Brunswick 4 1/2 x 9's there and they are WELL maintained.(Best equipment in town). The action ranges from lower c level speed all of the way up to champion speed. Where are you from?

I have not heard about that room, maybe IRONMAN can help us with some info. What part of Houston do you live?

I know that Classics Billiards has diamond tables but I dont know if that is the place you were referring to. I go there often I love the tables, it is a great place.

I am from Tennessee

Thanks for the reply. I forgot about this thread. I have some relatives in Clear Lake that I visit every year. Legends was pretty close by. I have been to a Fast Eddies but they seemed to have 8' tables or mostly home like tables. I don't go to TX to play a lot, but it is something to pass the time. Is Bogies near Clear Lake?

Clear Lake is about 20 minutes south of Downtown and Bogies is about 20 minutes North of Downtown, so it's like a road trip from Clear Lake. Classics is the place with all the Diamond tables, 4 nine foot tables and a lot of 8 foot tables.

Hey, I have been a little out of pocket for a few days.
Tlked with Teds partner today and he said Legends should be open around the 1st. You know how those things go though.
Man, that is a bad time of year for something like to this to happen. I guess there is never a good time. Ted has reetained his staff and has them helping with clean-up and some of the reconstruction and so forth. You have to respect a man who takes care of his people. He's a good guy.
Classic Billiards has some pretty nice Diamonds. I played in there once and liked it. I just don't get Houston very often.
Are you guys going to the DCC? If so, I'll see you there.
