I have one that a friend spontaneously made for me. It sat in the garage for a summer and when you roll on the ground it sounds like its playing the drums. It may be warped in multiple places. LOL

The Dufferin sneaky Pete I have was made for me back in the early 1990's and is 6" longer than normal I had 2 extra shafts made for it 13 mm shafts and it still hits a ball quite well .
I do need to replace a tip on 2 of the shafts , yes it's a fun cue to use as most folks don't realize just how long this cue is ha ha

That sounds like a really cool stick. I'm getting a matching 3 inch extension, so I guess I'll have half the fun

2nd from left, Dufferin 17oz conversion cut in half and a pin installed at the pool hall i played at 30 years ago. Still true and hits great. Won it gambling, kept it as a prize all this time.
Slick looking cue with a matching story too. I've been looking for an older 17 ounce for a while, love a light cue with a rear balance.

Had it done and had to do again as I did not like it at first... sent to Proficient Billiards to reduce the butt and refinished the entire cue. I love it. Bought in 1998... converted about 5-7 years ago, Will post a better picture tomorrow. I have 5 more Duff's from 1998... If I can find someone to convert I'd have 2 more done.

I'm not sure where Billy got all the Dufferin bar sticks to make these cues but I've never heard of anyone not happy with how they hit a ball , when I broke I snapped the shaft at the joint when I returned home later that night I got out the wood glue and glued it back together and wrapped it with rubber bands until it dried a little sanding and it's as good as new .
He also cut the butt end Dufferin label off and added the extra length in its place and used a 1/4" wood screw for the joint screw a very no frills sneaky Pete cue .

The main down side is in some bars where the pool tables are have a wall or tables that are rather close so you have to elevate the butt end to make the shot .

Looking classy brother. How much did that run you? I've been looking for a cue and haven't even looked into the actual conversion lol

Did it have no maple leaf or did he add that to the end too? I've never hit with a wooden pin, how's that feel?

I’m surprised it worked. Mine has a 3” vertical hairline crack on the butt half. Still have it, but wasn’t sure if there was any way to fix it

Did that happen because it has no collars, is that typical? Obviously I'd like to prevent that, would inserts do the trick?

Billy used a actual 1/4" steel wood screw for the joint pin ha ha which is very similar to the 3/8" x 10 pin that McDonald's McDermott cue use and many others , I'm sorry for any confusion .

As for my shaft I snapped it was a clean break that didn't completely split so I had both pieces and pulled it apart at home smeared wood glue carefully on both parts and wrapped it with rubber bands then screwed it together a few times wiping down the threads with a rag to remove any excess glue , yes if you look closely you can see the cracks where I fixed it ha ha .

Wolfy , to fix the butt section on yours maybe a challenge , a couple small flat screw drivers to spread open the crack may work to try to get the glue down inside I don't know it maybe worth a try ? Or find another donor butt from another cue .

My go to way of checking for a good bar stick to use was to hold it with one hand and then hit it with a open hand with the other it I felt the vibration it was a good shooter if not try another cue a simple trick I learned from two old school road players who I still miss visiting with and playing against to this day .

Not great pictures but better. It went to Seyberts for the conversion the first time. I was not satisfied so it went to Proficient Billiards for tapering the entire cure and refinishing. I paid twice so it's hard to come up with an actual cost. It was over $350 but less that $400 total. It is a wonderful player. Original cost in 1 piece form was $35. I bought 6 in 1998. (not for sale).
