Leonard Bludworth Cue?

I was wondering if anyone can answer a few question on this cue for me. Just got this Leonard Bludworth cue yesterday. It's purple heart with 4 points and looks like some ivory inlays. The cue has a few dings and scratches on the butt. It also has some scratches on the forearm. The shaft's joint ring was cut off about 1/4 inches and sanded out. The ferrule looks like it was sanded down badly too. It looks like someone wanted to save some money tried to doing it at home. Here are the questions I have before I decide to restore it or not.

What year or about what time period was this cue made? A friend said it was made in the early 90's but he was not very sure.

What is the value of the cue in it's current state?

Is the shaft worth restoring?

How much would it cost to restore the cue?

What is would the value be after it has been restored?

Thanks ahead of time for any information you can provide.

Well how much did you pay for it? I don't know anything about restoring them, but the people who do will have a better answer for you if they know how much you paid. If you got a smoking deal on it then possibly it could be, if you paid the same price you would have in good condition then probably not.

Why not just contact Leonard and ask him?

Scott gave you the best info. Leonard posts on here as "Blud"...send him a PM. I don't think he is on here often, but he checks from time to time.

If he is no longer doing repairs, etc, then contact Ryan Theewan (RatCues on here) with Mueller's. He is very good at repairs and restoration without being too expensive.

Hard to say what the value would be before/after restoration. Looks pretty beat up and the shaft is no good, so tough call. Refinish would cost about $125, and a new shaft would probably cost $125-175, so you are looking at $300 or so in repair/restoration, plus shipping.

If you want it as a player, spend the money on it. Blud cues are great players. Maybe Blud will do the refinish/new shaft for you, too.

Only one bump...

I was thinking about buying a new shaft for it instead of restoring the old one. I used my friends Bludworth shaft to test it out and it hit great. So if it is worth the price, I would not mind restoring it. Just need to know how much the cue was worth. Thanks for the answers so far.

Bludworth Cue

Do you still have your cue? Have you been happy with the performance of it? I have a Leonard Bludworth that is just beautiful. Would you like to see a picture of it? LJ

This is one of our #6 models.
This is a rendition of a cue my father and I made for a guy named cat fish back in the early 90's.
They sell for $850.00
The last time I made one was about 3 years ago.
I hope the info helps you,
