I have a box of Le Pros, 12mm. Can you use them?

Can we assume these cues are going to be used by bangers?

IMHO - and based on a few decades of expierence, Elk Masters are THE
tip for house cues. Unless, of course, you sell cloth.

LePros, and even more so, Triangles, whether good, bad, or indifferent, are
a mis-cue waiting to happen in the hands of lesser skilled players.

YMMV

You can already buy Le Pro, Elk Master and Triangle dirt cheap. And you want to buy rejects of these.

You say that you have customers that don't want premium tips. They're cheapos right?

Take for instance the Ultra Skin tip. If you have been paying attention to the deals Tom has been throwing out there to AZ members.
Now, I think you know what price per tip these work out to. You can install one for $30 or you can install one for $5. Up to you if you want to sell yourself short.

California tips can be purchased on EBay, they are a pretty decent layered tip and if I remember, they can be had for a buck a tip. Now exactly how low do you need to go.

Personally, my cheapest tip is $15. If I have someone that can't or doesn't want to pay that, then I don't want or need their cue in my shop cause less than that doesn't make it worth the wear and tear on the lathe, tooling, glue, sand paper etc.

I don't quite understand, you want rejects of tips that can already be had for 50 cents or under. What do you want to pay for them, a nickel?

If you need to install that cheap for a hall in order to make any money, then they are sucking your shorts in for you. If you are installing rejects on customers cues, you are playing with your reputation. Well, integrity too. Like, if you have a Dud, Le Pro or Triangle, they go in the trash can for a reason, right.

Like I mentioned, maybe I just don't understand and if that is what it is, I apologize in advance.

Selected old Triangle, prepared and put on by a master cue builder... my choice for the best cues and still give me the best feedback of all tips I have tried.

never seen the cali tips.. and my cheapest layered tip is also 15 . and there is not much profit there. but when one of the 2 or 3(apa) players want a tip and cant afford a beer (lol) u need something you can almost give away except for labor . they are happy with most anything. and for the house cues , when you are doing 25 to 40 cues most wont spend over 10 each. was using super pros but ive run out, need a new source for them. anyone know a good source for wizards and super pros ?
and no i dont expect to pay a nickel , just can see buying a full box either.

elkmaster wont last a month on a house cue, most are used by people that cant even hold a cue or think every shot has to be a jump or masse. and the others use them only for breaking so a harder tip is a must.
and the culls i was referring to were from the guys that say they can only get 10 good tips out of a box , so what do they do with the other 40 ?
makes u say ummm dosent it.

Carl, I see your point. Check out Ebay for the California tips. There are a couple of other guys on AZ that use them too.

Off the top of my head, I can't remember the name of the seller.
They actually are a very well made layered tip. Under $50 for a box of 50. You can buy individual tips to try a few first.

Now, you should be able to sell these ones for $15. These are in my list of 15 dollar tips. They say they are a Med tip but I might rate them a tad harder. You can get serious draw and spin with these. A nice profit and a layered tip for the player. Everyone is happy.

Its just when you can get a decent tip to install for that price, there is no reason to mess with either Le Pros or Triangles. Other than Triangles are still a decent tip and a choice for many of the guys who grew up playing with them. I quite like them myself.

Happy New Year.

Dr. Chen is not the guy that was selling them originally. I see they went up a small bit but still close to a buck a tip.
Seriously, try a few and I bet you won't be disappointed. I see now. Used to be Delta Sports. Same guy I bet and just changed his name. Still sells the same billiard equipment.

Funny you should mention this BHR. What does one do with the leather that was a click away from being UltraSkins with special leather treatment?

After much thought I have been hitting balls with a Third shaft many days of the week. I like what I see so far, not quite as good as UltraSkins but I believe there is a market for a very good layered at about $1.00 per tip.

If further testing show same I will be introducing OINKERS layered to the UltraSkin line. I have such a great way of picking names, LOL.

"A little knowledge is a dangerous thing"

You just couldn't be more wrong son.
Elks become a good tip IF they get pounded down by lots of play, like
on a house cue. Or soaked, pressed, cooked, etc.

Let me know when you've been maintaining house cues for 30 years.
We' can talk again then.

Dale(who once upon a time put LePros on his house cues)

I cannot argue much as i have been doing this for only 10 years , i will have to try using them on a few and see. have only used them on two piece cues and those are the ones ive see flatten out so bad they got thin as a dime. will take your advise and retry.

thanks . carl
