American John Isner battling against Frenchmen Nikolas Mahut in the first round of the 2010 wimbledon championships played roughly 10 hours of tennis!!! and smashed numerous world records for their duration of play. And they're still playing!!!

Play has been suspended due to darkness. they are currently tied 59 - 59 games in the 5th set!!!

They played so many games the scoreboard blacked out at 47-47!!!

Here are the stats:

881 total points played

Aces: Isner- 98 Mahut-95

Winners: Isner- 218 Manut-217

What will the final score be?

Haven't watched the match myself, but i would think that after a while you just cant break opponents serve. You are just 2 tired to run after the ball. That's why they both had almost 100 aces each. 98 and 94 i think.

SICK anyways. :D

The last SET alone (8 hours, 11 minutes) shattered the record for longest match by a good margin.

The final ace tally was Isner with 112 and Mahut with 103.

Isner will be so wiped out he'll get smashed in the next round. haha, They say to do good in the later rounds you should try to win your first ones in 3straight, he practically played a whole tournament in the first round. go rafa

You're probably right in that it will be tough for him keep going but oddly enough the guy he faces next, De Bakker, also had a long first match winning in the last set 16-14.
