Planning on being in New York City this summer for a vacation. Just wondering if there are any pros that give lessons in the area. Or any pool halls I should check out?

Tony Robles is regarded as one of the best instructors NYC has to offer. If you can't get a lesson with him, there are a lot of other pros and instructors in the area.

Iirc, there is a level 4 ACS instructor available in NYC.

Tony Robles can be contacted via Amsterdam Billiards in NYC- jut google them. He will do right by you.

Jonathan Smith @ Society Billiards, particularly good for strategy given his extensive 14.1 knowledge.

Hunter Lombardo @ Amsterdam, for fundamentals and troubleshooting.

Tony Robles @ Amsterdam.

Jennifer Barretta @ Skyline Billiards.

I would go with Barretta. I watched her give a lesson and she said something that helped my game immensely. I was going through a period where I struggled with the 8 ball in eight ball and 9 ball in nine ball. She said to try and play position with the cue ball to the head rail. I was losing focus when I got to the last ball and this helped my focus again. Huge difference for me and would recommend her for that reason alone.

I heard that a lot from people, play position on your last ball to help make it.

Another thing I do with players to help make the last ball is to get them to practice playing position to from all parts of the table up to between spot and end rail. The 9 and 8 ball are very often in that part of the table in maybe 3-4 major positions, so it's good to be comfortable playing to those positions. You want to play to them on the end rail, towards one of the corner pockets, to the spot and between the spot and the rail. A lot of players end up scratching in the sides, corners or getting to the 50/50 position parallel to the ball on the spot where you need to bank it or make a cut to side or corner, with the possibility of scratching. Losing on the last ball is very real and common for even good players.

All good recommendations, but don't forget Fran Crimi of Queens, NY, one of the city's most skilled and experienced instructors, and a former professional player.

I've heard nothing but good things about Tony Robles.
I wasn't aware of Hunter Lombardo moving to that area but I've also heard very good things about him.
Can't go wrong with either one of these guys.
