lessons with or without video

finally returned to usa and want to raise my level of play thru an instructor. need to "tweak" my stroke and fundamentals. i wanted a video of my play and stoke based on this forums' suggestions. however the local instuctor does not have a camera available at this time. do i wait until he gets access to one or just jump in and get a couple of hours lesson?

It's nice to have the lesson video taped especially if the instructor works on something that you might easily forget.

I find that many players that I taught in the past that don't have the video to review forget about half of what they need to know.

Write stuff down. You will remember it when you read it later when your at the table alone. And don't wait too long to work on it.

The main value of a video recording of your mechanics is that it is very convincing. Nearly any mechanical flaw that shows up on video can be demonstrated in some other way, but it's never as clear as when you can see yourself.

The other advantage of video is that it can be an automatic record of the lesson, but you sound motivated enough to pay attention and a good instructor will review the things you have to work on at the end of the lesson if you lose track. Take notes on the handout that the instructor gives you.
