I have been thinking about taking some lessons from Wade Crane. He is available within an hours drive and the rates are very reasonable.

My question...has anyone had the chance to take some lessons from him?
If so, how would you rank him as an instructor?

Thanks for your time.

i saw wade play at the us open couple years ago.......still looked pretty sporty. I see ur in nc, where is he offering lessons at? Id be interested in taking some too, just to pick his brain or hear his stories. Man is a legend....good local player near me went on the road with him years ago when he was goin under the name billy johnson. I think hes also the only player to ever shoot a perfect 1000 in accustats.

No lessons, but he used to write a column and it was quite informative.

I first met Wade as Billy Johnson also, when he come though and beat one of my best friends outta 15 grand playing one pocket...lol.

Wade lives in Raleigh, NC now. I live in Greenville maybe an hour away. I spoke to him last weekend at a tournament at Brass Taps and we spoke of lessons. Very nice man. And his rates are very reasonable I feel...75.00 an hour with a two hour min. Thats not bad for a player of his knowledge and the stories would be worth 75.00 alone.

I'll call Wade and see if he would like for me to give out his number.

I know nothing about his instructional ability, but, given his ability to play pool, I would think it would be worth a few bucks to find out if he can teach.

awesome...if he doesnt want his number out there ask him if you could pm it to me....or if i could give him mine. I live in martinsville va.......i used to shoot some with chip robertson (that was the player i mentioned earlier who told me some about his time spent on the road with wade). Id definitely make the drive down for some 1/2 day lessons.

I have not,but meet him at dcc- and must say he is nice guy. and i have a friend that did take lessons from him and his game went offf the scale!!:D :D :D

No doubt Wade was and still is a great player but I'm not sure he would be the greatest instructor. Not to say he wouldn't. I play rather well but to teach, now thats a whole new element. I personally prefer Steve Lee. Better bang for your buck and he has had plenty of advanced level training (He learned how to teach advanced level pool) and is an "A" player himself. I have heard nothing but 100% positive feedback from numerous people attending his class. I had one of his aids help me with my stroke a while ago and was back to my "A" game within a few days. I'm supposed to get some private stoke training this week, and I think he has a class coming up this weekend at Brown's. Hope this help.

Disclaimer---I know Wade, and in no way am I saying his ability as a teacher isn't up to par and worth the money. Just saying I have plenty of feedback from Steve's class and know it is priced better.
