Lets build a Pool Case for today's Player

I kind have a fascination with Pool cases and jump sticks. I, think, with Pool
cases because I feel they could be better with some changes:

All internal specs for a case would be in keeping with quality cases today,
or better.

A player that is somewhat accomplished might need the following
on his case:

1) Upper pocket with 3 sections:
a) fairly flat back section for pocket notebook
with a couple of pens. Easy to slide out.
Needed to write players names, adds, phones, or
billiard room info, or tournament info.
b) Pocket section for bridge head, gum, small candy, misc. small items.
c) Front flat section for business cards, sandpaper, flat type things.

2) Separate pocket to hold 3 pieces of chalk. Easy to get out.
3) Bottom 16" pocket for larger items. (I also carry items like
crackers and cheese packs in large pocket. Pool cue holder (2 cues).
Extra cigarettes. Cleaner and polish for shaft.
4) IMO, on reverse side of bottom pocket, 2 softer padded sleeve pockets for
Jump stick butts with quick velcro top closure.
5) The netting pocket where optimal for cell phone.
6) Fastener on outside for Pool towel if desired. Near the top of case.
7) Fastener on bottom half for Pool cue holder for people that get
holders for a whole Pool team, or a large holder.
8) Carrying handle - padded.
9) Carrying strap - very well padded to alleviate sore shoulders on big cases.
strap should be strong, and pad should be thick and soft.
(I have bought a seat belt pad to use before to have enough
pad for a 4 x 8 Porper case).
10) Some type of audible security device built in.

A serious player will probably have:

A) Playing cue with 2 shafts.
B) Break cue. Maybe Break/jump cue.
c) Maybe a 2nd jump cue.

A 2 x 4 version case of above would serve him/her.

The REAL serious player might have:

A) Playing cue with 2 shafts.
B) Backup playing cue with 2 shafts.
C) Break cue or Break/Jump cue. **
D) Jump cue.

A 3 x 6 version case of above would serve him/her.

** If player above has just a Break cue and not Break/Jump, he could
possibly have 2 Jump cues.

Then, a 3 x 7 or 4 x 8 version of above case would serve him/her.

This is what I have thought of without trying to OVERDUE it. What do
you think? Do you think Cases can be made where they are uptodate
with today's players and more convenient for the player.

An emergency condom pocket for the pool groupies lol Maybe a little kickstand like the golf bags have.

Seriously, we could use more practical cases, though.

Ohhhhh... so that's what that pocket in my case is for. Silly me, I was using it for wet naps all this time!

You know what's truly sad, this guy wrote this really serious post AND WE'RE GOING TO RUIN IT!

So um, you do know sanitary napkins DON'T GO on the dinner table, right?

I just want a LIGHTWEIGHT 2x3 case...I currently use a Porper 2x2 and it works pretty well...but still...why can't someone just make one from a hard plastic that will protect cues and have felt lined tubes. Be pretty simple and should not weigh so dern much. Also has to have two pockets, one long for my extensions and one small yet wide for my bridges.

Just my .02

Marissa, they do make a case that has a kickstand...

Wow! That is really premative. Do people still use those?? I would say a cell phone pocket or PDA pocket...maybe.

Speaking of which...a tampon pocket would be handy.... and make sure it holds more than two.

Don't I always ruin a thread? :D

Ok, fine. I'll actually contribute something for a change. I actually like the cases that SnapShot9 described. Although my case doesn't have all of the bells and whistles, I'm happy with it. I have a Silver Fox case (http://www.hawleys.com/SilverFox/SilverFox.htm). It's very similar to the BR-29 on that site except it's a 3x5. It's got a nice big pocket at the bottom where I can store a jump cue if I ever get one.

By the way, this will be my last post for a while. I think I have finally reached the optimal amount of total posts. ;)

Amen, but I think both O Cue Cases, and Dan Whitten Case will build it YOUR WAY, if you have the Bucks, and a Good Set of Plans for a Custom Design.... ;)

with all the stuff available to today's player they already have a case thats perfect.......a golf club bag......LOL.

seriously though, if you want to talk cases.....talk to onepocketchump........i'm sure he can give you all the insight you need on that.

VAP

...so complicated. And Marissa, the long pocket on an Instroke will hold plenty of "emergency" condoms as well as tampons.

SilverFox case ...

First, where did you see the case similiar to BR-29 that is a 3 x 5? I have researched Silver Fox cases and haven't seen such a case. I was primarily
looking at the BR-2, since it is a hard/soft case, and it has been redesigned
for the pockets to have a 16" pocket on the bottom, which can hold jump butts. NO WEBSITES have the picture of the NEW BR-2. I have emailed
Silver Fox, and they said yeah, they need to do that. Silver Fox is wholesale
only, and not really receptive to talking to the end user.

My problem with normal bottom pockets is that the jump butt is too hard and too slow to get out of the pocket, that's why I advocated (on reverse side),
a soft padded 2 sleeve pocket for jump butts with a velcro fastener at the
top. You simply flip the top up, grab the jump butt and slide it out ... much
faster than have to unzip, finding the jump butt in the big pocket, wiggle it
past all other stuff, and rezip the pocket back up. Plus I have to take a
cap off my jump butt. Usually, when you need a jump stick, it is crucial,
and you need it FAST, so the easier to get to it, the BETTER. (Yes, I know
I could take it out before a match, and put it together, but that is usually
only done in big tournaments, not normal league or small tournament play -
besides, a lot of players don't like to leave a jumpstick out, too easy to
get stolen)

I forgot 1 other thing I would like to see on cases bigger than 2 x 4's is
a set of those POP-DOWN wheels like they have for inline skates, so you can wheel the big cases. Ever try lugging a big case around at Nationals
in Vegas for 10 days .... oh, my poor shoulder, and it can bother you some when you have to shoot.

Tampons are for purses, out of sight. Condoms can go into the little
pocket, if necessary - for either sex. THIS THREAD WAS NOT MEANT
TO BE A JOKE, IT WAS TO COME UP WITH SOME NEEDED DESIGN CHANGES
FOR POOL CASES THAT WE COULD TAKE TO A CASE MAKER, AND HAVE
IMPLEMENTED, OR AT LEAST TALK TO HIM ABOUT THEM.

Maybe one of the holes for the cues can be set up to not be as long as it usually is for the butt if a jump cues. Some people don't really care for the jump/break cues and like to keep those separate. Just an idea. BTW...Hi Scott. There has got to be a design somewhere or with all helping that would be great for the players. It seems that some of the cases are real heavy to tote around. I use just a 2/2 because the others are too heavy for me. I'm 5'4" weighing about 130-134 lbs. I already carry around a 10 cue case that has Fury line of cues in it for the tour so something lightweight for my personal cues would be great.
