Let's hear about those Denver pool halls

I am entertaining the idea of accepting a position and relocating to Denver, specifically in the Inverness area. No idea where I would live, but more importantly, are there any quality pool halls with diamond tables and preferably 9 foot tables in this area? My current apartment is less than 10 minutes away from my current pool hall (my wife thinks we found this apartment complex on accident). I moved there on purpose and I don't plan on moving to another city in a different state without doing my pool homework first.

If you are living south of town near DTC (Denver Tech Center), then Felt is the closest pool room with Diamonds. About 15 minutes from DTC. If you are going to be North of downtown, then The Wreck Room in Federal Heights (about 40 minutes give or take from DTC) is the best choice to find Diamonds.
 
Felt (both 9' and 7' diamonds)
Mile High Billiards (both 9' and 7' diamonds)
Rack em (both 9' and 7' diamonds)


I prefer Felt and MHB, but all are are decent options. There are also a few other places with 7' diamond bar boxes and 9' gold crowns.

From Inverness you will end up living South:

Highlands Ranch
Parker
Lone Tree
Castle Pines
Castle Rock

There is not a 9 ft. table anywhere near those areas.
I doubt there is a 9-footer in all of Douglas County.
Parker & Castle Rock have a little bar table APA action, zero gambling, real bad tables.
I can tell you where all of the good places are, but the only pool hall South of Denver
is Felt, and it's quite a ways from Douglas County

If you are moving here for the marijuana stores it's very good, if you are moving here for pool, it's not so good.

You live near the poolhall, frequent the place are still married...
I'd say it's a combination of you having a understanding wife and a extremely lucky ass!

Other than that I don't know squat about Colorado poolhall except that they are HIGH up in elevation.


You got the hot nuts fresh out of the roaster<~ can't get better than that.

Not so bleak

Don't let Ted get you down...

Rackem has 9' Diamonds and 7' Diamonds. They are located in Aurora. I don't personally go there much anymore because it's in kind of a rough area but lots of other players play there often. They have leagues and tournaments.

Felt as others have mentioned is good. Good food, nice atmosphere, 9' and now 7' diamonds as well as some 9' gold crowns. Good big table tournaments twice a week.

Mile High Billiards up north is where I play mostly now. All diamonds but only four 9' tables plus a 12' snooker table. Lots of leagues and bar table tournaments.

I should mention Hanks, old and worn but all gold crowns and valleys I believe. I haven't been in there much the last 5 years or so. Used to be a great room with the toughest weekly tournament in town.

It's mostly a bar table town (Diamond bar tables mostly, I haven't had to play on a valley in years) with lots of tournaments and leagues to get involved in.

Greenfields, Wreck Room are bar oriented rooms with all 7' diamonds.
 
Felt is the only 1st class room in the Denver area. Felt has Gold Crowns, Diamonds all 9 footers and a mess of 7 foot Diamonds plus a snooker table. Great food and lots of TVs for sports.
Rackem is a dump with old nasty Diamonds. Best to stay away from there. Not real safe. There was a shooting in the parking lot not too long ago.
Hanks is a dump with old time character with Gold Crowns and Valley bar boxes.
Mile High is 1st class with mainly 7 foot Diamonds and 9 foot Diamonds that are shimmed super tight and no fun to play on. And lots of leagues.
Plus the fact that the legend in his own mind Measureman plays at Felt. That alone is a reason to go there :thumbup:

I love Felt & Mile High, but he was talking 10-minutes trip to a pool hall.
From Highlands Ranch to Felt in traffic, forget it, and there is a lot of traffic all over that area.
It depends where he moves, but his job is in Inverness.

Felt is a real good place and he won't be too far away.

I would go to Rack'Em all the time when I lived in Aurora.

Oscar and Ernesto actually re-felted the tables and made other changes when they got new owners, so it's actually not that bad anymore. I believe they also brought it all new 7' Diamonds to replace the valley tables, but I don't remember for sure.

Agree about the area, and that shooting happened one night 2 hours after I went home.

but I will be there Saturday with the legendary professional rail bird Phil The Fin.

just for you Jim i will try to shift into top gear.It's still there but sometimes it just won't come out and i lug along in a lower gear.
 
Best thing in Denver, if you decide to move in, get a place with a room big enough for your own table or if you move into an apartment find one with a clubhouse that has a pool table. The rooms here are mediocre at best
 
Thanks for the info. Sounds like Felt is the place to be. I'll be in town for work on Monday with some time to kill. $2.50/hour, doesn't get much better than that!
