i am looking for a different joint though. What does something like that run ?

The joint you see here is Mike's mainstay, the ultra-joint. It's a 3/8 big pin with concave/convex joint face. You might get a piloted joint from him, but it would be outside of the norm. I'm a piloted fan myself.
Mike's cues & joint are very highly thought of, though.
 
My buddy John has a 16 Point Lambros, Eight Hi, and Eight LOW, it wil be mine some day as he willed it to me. Hope someday is a long way off!
 
i have this one, it's in the 3rd edition billiard encyclopedia. apparently mike cut this from the same piece of cocobolo so the points match the highly figured buttsleeve.
