Level Of Play At W10B vs Conditions?

Did anyone else feel that the level of play for the top players was below normal for them? if so, why do you think that was? My thinking it could have been combination of tables, cloth, humidity, tables way too close, fans right up in they're face all around the arena, and 30 second shot clock.

Not trying to take anything away from Amit. She played as good as she had to for the win for the second time, Johnnyt

I would agree. The standard was clearly higher in the World 9-ball Championships when Han Yu played near perfect pool in discharging champion after champion.

To be fair, the Yalin tables played really well but the humid conditions (noted numerous times by the commentators) seemed to make them play a bit short, and it can be a tough adjustment for the less experienced players in the field. Quite a few kicks were missed short by players who failed to make the proper adjustment.

Still, the depth of the talent pool was impressive and it sure is tough to win one of these WPA World Championships.

I was wondering about indoors with A/C myself, but it seems like everyone involved in the management/promotion side of things wanted to keep the event open and more accessible to the fans, who go to watch for free.

It was hot and humid. There wasn't enough room for tables to be far enough apart. 95% of the fans had to stand for hours because not much seating. The fans could watch on TV and the players would be cool with very low humidity, if inside. It's a win win, but it has to be a money thing I'm sure. Johnnyt

Isn't it what makes a champion is if he/she can adjust to the conditions of the playing area/table? Anyway it was held at Resorts World Manila, a hotel, casino, shopping mall in one. http://www.rwmanila.com/ which was on of the major sponsors of the tournament. They chose to hold the event there probably to accomodate more people.

Past world tournaments here in manila were held in malls, araneta coliseum, PICC (philippine international convention center) which were all air conditioned.

Congrats to Rubilen for winning her second World 10 ball crown!
