I've read Diliberto's book already. Now hungry for more lifestories of pool hustlers and gamblers. Any recommendations ? I've heard that Buddy's book Rags to Rifleman is great but it's out of print. Any other good books ? Grady's book ? Danny McGoorty's ? Others ? And I prefer books that aren't sold out, otherwise make me a generous offer on your copy ;)

Is DiLiberto's book out?

McGoorty is good. Clive Barker is better. I have heard that Grady's book was a tough read, but the subject is one we like ,so...

I recommend that you read Playing Off the Rail by David McComber. Also check out used bookstores. From time to time you can find pool books, usually at a good price.

Thanks for all recommendations ! As living in Finland, no pool books can be found anywhere. Almost every book has to be ordered, I don't even dream about finding anything from used-book stores.

McGoorty by Byrne is in print and available (to US addresses) for as little as $7 including shipping, used.

"The Unsinkable Titanic Thompson" is available from the publisher. I posted a link recently.

"Playing Off the Rail" is OK, but I found it boring about 2/3rds of the way through. The use of profanity was overdone, and I was distracted by the disconnect between the descriptions in the book and the reality of the people I know that were being described.

Grissim's "Billiards" is good, but about $50 used.

Dyer's "Hustler Days" should still be in print.

Here is a list from a previous posting in rec.sport.billiard. Google Groups will let you find the original posting.
