Get a fluorescent fixture. Light bulbs cause shadows cuz they are directional. Fluorescent are not.

Try CFLs. They are fluorescent bulbs. Four 5000K 100W equivilent bulbs will throw out a lot of diffuse light with softer shadows than regular incandescent bulbs. The actual power consumption will be about 4x25W=100W, about the same power draw as one 100W incandescent. They are very cool running as well, a relief when shooting in a warm room.
Or return the fixture and spend $800 for a Diamond light with parabolic louvers and never look back. Those things are awesome.

There are also very thin LED panels. I believe they come in 2'x 2 ' & 2 x 4'.

Sorry but you are way off, Hard light or hard lighting only casts a shadow just like on a sunny day. a overcast day where the direct sunlight cannot be seen through the clouds and no hard shadows, is considered soft lighting. Most bulbs that are not defused put out hard lighting...................................................................................
All light puts out a certain amount of heat.
All light puts out polarized reflection, if you don't want polarized reflection put linear polarized film over your light, but be careful tungsten bulbs put out allot of heat and can easily start a fire hazard.

Hard lighting using polarized film over my strobes and a CPL on my lenses to remove polarized reflection.
This called cross polarization technic.
Just hard lighting.
